Yep. It's looking like I can hold off on next gen for a bit longer right now. No compelling football game = no rush.

Looks like they've at least added some fun mini-games into the mix:

It's football, I was buying anyways. Even if it was the Atari "three washing machines to a side" football.

Bought the game today. I'm sure this will be the worst version of Madden ever since I bought the digital edition for the PS4!

I hope it's good. Aside from the stats, which apparently blow.

Yep. Reading about it on OS. It is quite the mess. Looking forward to hearing if your experience with simulated stats is any better.

I may complain about it, but I always get my money's worth out of Madden on a yearly basis.

Different strokes...different folks.

I only ever play single player, never online, so having a busted career mode in a sports game basically ruins it for me.

If they can't get the sim stats right, I have little faith in them getting the on field game right. I'm almost certain the game would benefit greatly from a 2 year development cycle, but the best thing that could happen would be another company stepping up and showing EA how to make a damn game.

The game starts and lets you play as the Panthers vs Seattle after recovering a fumble down 26-21 with a few mins left to play.. I scored a TD with a nice pass from Cam to beat Seattle 27-26 as time expired.. pretty neat little intro to the game.

I haven't played Madden in so long.. started a game 6 mins Rams vs Bills on default AP and had my butt handed to me 31-0. Sammy Watkins scored the first TD of the game. (the guy I wanted the Rams to get.. lol)

The default camera is too close, so I moved back 1 setting, seems much better now. The game itself is beautiful.. but we all expected that. The presentation is excellent as well.

I need a ton more time it.. these 6 hours won't take me long to use up.

Gameplay was fun in my first game.. running and passing was intuitive and I was able to mount drives.. I just threw too many INT's as the game is faster than NCAA on defaults at least.

Defense is going to take some time to get used to, but I do feel like I have total control of my player.

The playcalling menus are a bit odd in a way I have to back out to get to a different formation.. but once you get used to it, it's not all that bad.

Anyway.. off to the practice mode.

I'm looking at this article:

Madden NFL 15: Season Simulations - GoodGameBro.com

While the passing numbers are off, I don't see anything too outlandish where the stats are concerned.

Maybe you could do this in previous Madden's.. but being able to share rosters and sliders is pretty neat.

I'll try to sim a bit tonight after our soccer game.. it stinks we are leaving early tomorrow to go out of town for the weekend.

I'm kinda excited about some of the drills - the defense recognition drill for QBs in particular. I'm horrible at recognising which D I'm up against, which is why I usually go with run-heavy offenses with a lot of quick passes.

lol.. yeah I haven't messed with them yet.. why can't a game right out of the box have penalties.. this goes for NHL too?

Should be some rating for players or something.. sheesh..

Won my second game vs Cleveland.. their starter got hurt and Manziel came in and played pretty well.

Sounds like it might be a fun game just for head-to-head with a buddy, but I don't get to play that way more than a few times a year.

Waiting to go next-gen just became easier.

Was going to trade in The Last Of Us for Madden, glad I haven't done it yet. I'll wait for a patch to fix this (with EA, who knows if that will even happen), and by then it should be on sale.

Which thread?

I'm in the "if its fun to play, I'm good" boat. I still don't see anything truly outlandish in the stats or player progression.

Question for those that have it as a few friends and I are discussing trying this out. Can you play online single player mode (ie: create then play as a single player) with multiple people each doing this in this years version?

From what we can tell it existed in last year's version with the limitation of one of these types of players per team. Our hope is that we can limit the people in the "league" to just the 4-5 of us (ie: randoms can't join up) and each create our guy, place them on our favorite teams then go from there.

Any help/clarification on this would be greatly appreciated as we're not having much luck finding reviews that talk much about these details.

This will be the first year since 1990 where I'll be giving Madden a miss.
It's been an absolute compulsion to get it every year up until now. This year it's changed into revulsion.

I just can't take the "we're committed to making this a sim" message paired with no penalties, jump the snap mechanics, vision cones, horrible simulated stats and dubious (at best) roster management.

Their bizarre youtube advertisement was the final breaking point that made me realize I am no longer part of their target demographic.

I really wish we had a true sim alternative for playing out or coaching games. I think I'll stick with FOF and Action PC until Beyond the Sideline comes out.

I think an issue is that they are making a game that is directed at two distinct gaming groups neither of which would be enough to dump the type of resources that a Madden takes into a game.

I guess the reason it works for me is that I'm not in either targeted group. I like to play the game and I can get fairly decent results (even penalties to a degree) by playing with the sliders. One year LB interceptions were insane so I went in and lowered the jumping ability (they were jumping sky high to snag the ball) on every LB in the game.

One thing I wish they would give us, would be a tool to adjust player ratings globally. Be able to go in and knock 30 points off of the jumping ability of every LB in the league with one adjustment.

It may (or may not) be broken out of the box, but I'll get the game I want. The reason I say 'may not' is because the game actually acts differently when the player is interacting with it as opposed to just blowing through it by simming seasons. I won't know until I get a chance with it on Tuesday.

This would be a godsend. "Max LB jump is X". "Max DT speed is Y". You could resolve so many issues.

Me, I think I'll just keep happily plugging away with NCAA 2014.

It appears that this is in. When I was starting my single player career, there was a box that said play with up to 32 other players playing the career mode. I didn't try it out so I don't know for sure if you can limit it or password protect it.

Anybody got a read yet on how realistic the yardage and scoring is? The first thing i always do with madden, is set the clock so that every game has a realistic number of plays, and then work from there.

Last one i had was '13, and it was just way over the top with the offence if playing a realistic number of snaps/game.

Besides the issue with simulated stats, I haven't really read or seen any major other problems that would keep me away from buying the full version of the game. Seems like a typical release for EA, improve some things and have issues with other things. Each year I have set realistic expectations and I don't ever expect major differences so I am rarely disappointed.

I have played a few games with the early access version and feels good to me. Even playing on all pro has provided me a challenge, defenses do seem much better this year and your offense can't just run down the field everytime. All of my games have been close, without any slider adjustments yet, although I might have to lower QB accuracy a little since the CPU can seem a little automatic sometimes. I also saw a distinct difference between the Vikings and Bengals on how they played and that was refreshing to see.

In my first game, I was playing as the Steelers and my first play I handed the ball off to Bell and he ran for a 64-yard touchdown which was cool to see. But I immediately thought, boy this was going to be easy. Well, that was the last TD my team scored and I lost the game It was a challenge getting anything going. Penalties are still absent....in all my games so far on default penalty sliders, not a single penalty called. I have come to expect that so not overly surprised, once I get the full game I will have to max them to see if anything improves, but I doubt it. If EA ever gets penalty sliders right for Madden and NHL, I would be in heaven.

So for me, I like it, although very small sample size due to the crazy 6-hour early access limit but I am for sure picking my copy up on Tuesday.

It's absolutely incredible that EA can't fix something like the penalty sliders in their game. Don't want them cluttering up the out-of-the-box "experience?" Fine, then at least make them work incrementally when they are increased from that point.

It's an absolute joke. I agree that Madden and NHL could be really solid games if this were fixed...it'd be like it pitchers couldn't throw balls in a baseball game and every pitch was destined for the middle of the plate.

I didn't play it enough…so I'm sitting out for now. I had the Day One edition and surprisingly I got back very close to what I paid for it (apparently it's collectable?).

I still play Skyrim and sports on the 360, I have a PC, and I play board games. The One was the only thing that didn't have a must have game on it. Maybe that'll change if Elder Scrolls releases a single player game again down the road. Even then, I may hop ship to the PS4, it seems to be getting better press.

As for Madden, it's no longer the console seller it once was. It just seems every year it's hype+flaws+promises+repeat. I don't need to have the latest version to have my football fix.
