I have to be in Orlando-area later this month for business. My business ends on Thursday and I'm seriously contemplating making it a long-weekend and going down to Miami Thursday afternoon and spending Fri-Sat-Sun there.

What's the best way to get to Miami from Orlando? Fly? Bus? Rent a car just for the drive?

Looks like $180 to fly to Miami, less than $100 to fly to Ft. Lauderdale, or like a 2 hour bus ride? Is 2 hour bus ride accurate, or is that wishful thinking?

Not a FL resident, but have done the drive a few times. A straight shot down the Florida Turnpike, a little over 200 miles.

I'm a Florida resident and have not made that journey yet.

So personally speaking, I would rent a car and drive just for the fun of it. Especially when in area's I'm not accustomed to (I love a good long freeway drive). And don't worry, half the state is from Boston or New York so you'll fit in just fine I think.

From what I remember it's a 5 hour drive, which seemed interminably long at the time (but the circumstances probably had a lot to do with it). Flying is probably a 45 min ride, but of course it has all the fun involved with that.

Drive. About a 3 hour drive. Try not to enter Ft Lauderdale/Miami area during rush hour, you'll be sorry.

Cool. Yeah - if I drive I'll either leave early afternoon or later so that I miss rush hour.
