Don't try to scam M-B owners

I hadn't seen this posted over here yet. Evidently there was a guy that was selling non-existent gear to some folks on a Mercedes-Benz forum. Once the folks there figured out what was going on, they pretty much tracked the folks down based on what they've posted online and are about to make life miserable for them. They have addresses, phone numbers, SSNs, work addresses, the whole nine yards. As one guy put it, they know more about these scammers now than their own mothers know.

The overall thread is about 50 pages long, but one of the people there made a really good Cliff Notes version with links to the interesting posts.

Dayum. I just spent the past two and a half hours reading both threads. Both are crazy. The M-B thread though... Holy shit.

Reminds me of this thread that I saw linked to at a different board. The gist of it is, a guy is scammed/robbed of his iPhone, others on the board notice similar postings on CL which include e-mail addresses, they find the guys name, address, criminal record, etc. The thread includes MySpace pics, threatening voicemails left by the guy, and texts. The thread is still active, as the cops are investigating the guy...

Still, nothing beats the anti-419 scams (Anus Laptops is absolutely brilliant)
