I need to keep track of the current franchise players. So here's my attempt at doing so. You can post when you've removed the franchise tag/added to a guy in here.

Rio Grande
RF Pedro Garcia

Winnemucca
SP Erik Doucet

San Diego
OF Eusebio Salavisa

Carolina

OF Elvis O'Connor

I've been thinking for years we needed to add a trade clause to the franchise rules.

So...this question makes me think about the best way to do it. The problem is how to deal with a franchise player's salary if you deal him to another team where he (presumably) isn't going to be the franchise guy, but just another asset.

I think I've solved the dilemma.

So here's the new rule addendum:

Franchise players may be traded. Upon being trade, the franchise player receives a one-year contract extension with an annual value equal to the median salary of the Top 10 players in SLOP at the time of trade + $1 million. His deal for the current year will be equal to the media salary of the Top 20 players in SLOP at the time of trade + $1.5 million

The idea here is to "pay them their due" but also to essentially make them valuable assets for their particular clubs.

This rule is effective immediately. I'd been thinking about it because you have a team like San Diego that could probably deal it's franchise guy for value before he starts to suck, but there's nothing to do with him on a bad team and releasing him for nothing is stupid.

So yeah, let's free the franchisees.

Six teams still have franchise players: Gettysburg, Winnemucca, San Diego, Rio Grande, Washingtn, Carolina. The rest are all eligible for FFP/RFA.
