1866 (Season 29) RFA & FFP Thread
I suppose anyone who isn't taken in the draft who'd otherwise be FFP eligible could be claimed here. But I can't imagine there will be much left.
But if you have an upcoming free agent that you'd like to RFA, feel free to do so here provided you're not one of the few teams left with a FRANCHISE player. If you're new, I will have to break down what I'm talking about here so that next year you are ready to participate (Specifically in FFP, I suppose.) Actually, we might retire FFP after this year. It's depleting draft classes considerably and as the Franchise players get older, it becomes a lot less useful of a tool when everyone has it.

Too late to RFA?
If not, then Fred Caldwell. If I missed the deadline, no big deal, though. |

Fred Caldwell signed a 6year/$87m deal with Lake Tahoe. Memphis can choose to match the deal or if not, he will remain in Lake Tahoe.

Robby Braden signed a 6 year deal worth $80m with Gettysburg. Denver needs to decide whether to match or he will remain with the Gomers.

I feel like there needs to be something else to RFA. Like...a loss of a draft pick associated with it. Right now, you go tie up all of that cash in a guy you really want and someone RFAs him and gets him back and you don't get anything AND you manage to lose out on other FAs. It's the risk you take when offering on a RFA, but still...
I feel like a team that loses an RFA should get the 1st rounder from the team that signs him and the team that loses on an RFA claim ought to get their 2nd rounder. Would level the playing field a bit... And FFP is done. Starting this year, the future franchise player rule is retired. Anyone on an FFP deal will remain, but...we'll keep RFA and all teams will eligible to use it starting this upcoming season. 1 player per team per off-season.
