League Average Salary
Right now (into this off-season) league average salary is $2,636,234.
This puts us at about 2002-2003 salary/team payroll levels. Do we think this is too high? too low? or just right? I'm a firm believer in modern financials and that won't change, as it keeps things easier. But here are some examples. In 2000, MLB league average salary was $1.8 million and in 1993, my personal favorite MLB year, league average salary was $1.104 million The Blue Jays led MLB in payroll that year with $51.9 million. Since we didn't go an auction, there might be ways to at least (possibly) address the financials without me simulating a strike-shortened/lockout season. But if everyone thinks salaries as they are now are good, then that's fine too. Just wanted to get a feel.. |

I don't have an issue with salary, though as I said in another thread, I think that arbitration should be automatic for minsal studs.
