Brooklyn, Rio Grande & Chicago are all still over the cap. If their respective owners don't figure the situation out by opening day, I'm going to release a player to get them under and take a draft pick. The first two are the real problem. Chicago is less than a million over, so it's a lot less complicated of a problem to fix. The other two will need to release someone or trade for cap space to fix the issue. My understanding is there are lots of teams that'd front them the space to keep who they have, though.

I didn't get your export tonight, but so long as you did that, then yeah you'll be fine.

Some clerical business.

Ramz is going to take over an expansion club in the AL called the San Diego Fathers. He's been busy lately, but doesn't want to leave (nor do I want him to go...) and this enables one of our waiting list dudes to get a team.

So robster1225 will be taking over the original Fathers who will become the Las Vegas Aces.

Meanwhile, in the NL, JonG will get an expansion team in the NL or we'll find someone else.

Unless you all indicate otherwise, the playoffs for this year will continue to be Top 3 in each league. Scheduling-wise, we could've had a 162 game schedule with divisional play or a customized schedule with 160 games, no more interleague play and continuing the single-table structure.

I opted for the latter, figuring that divisional play might be strange.

We could go to 5 teams in the playoffs and configure it so the 1st place team gets a straight bye to the LCS as it is now. This would force a new round of playoffs.

The Elimination Series would remain a best-of-five game tilt, but the 2 v. 5 would play and the 3 v. 4 would play. The winner of that series would advance to a new division series round which (presumably) would be best of seven. The winners of this series would take on the top seed in the LCS (best of seven) and then we'd do the best of 9 classic as usual.

The AL has been thick for a while now, so it might be worthwhile there. The NL sort of isn't as deep as they beat up on each other all year and as such, you don't have 89 win teams missing the post-season there.

Either way, I'm fine. I think I'm leaning towards an experimental one-year situation with the expanded playoffs to see what it looks like and to give up a snapshot and then we can decide if we hate it or not. I'd prefer not to do it only in one league versus the other, though OOTP's playoffs can be configured through the end of the season, so we can preemptively institute a rule that prevents teams with losing records into the playoffs unless they're somehow the #1 seed, which would mean that we in those years, we can simply lower the number of qualified playoff teams in that particular league.

San Diego's Ryan Schaefer, Dave Norman, Memphis stalwart Derek Campbell and Rio Grande's venerable OF "Sugar" Joe Mosley are all inducted into SLOP's Hall of Fame this year.

I finally downloaded the ST file, and my roster is all fucked up.

Did you not get my exports last week?
I exported like 20 times. WTF?
I'm exporting again shortly. Please let me know if you get it.

With Christmas next week and many people celebrating that, I figure I will compress the free agency schedule. I'll remind you all this week, but if you will set your draft lists BEFORE the post-season, then we'll be able to just run the draft and post-season on Friday. Then next week we can do a compressed free agency from say, Thursday (or Friday) through the weekend, maybe and be back to a new season to start the new year.

I'll probably accelerate this week's schedule then for the holidays too, just so we can get it over with before people take off for the weekend.

So let's do:

TODAY: 1ST HALF
TOMORROW: 2ND HALF
WEDNESDAY: PLAYOFFS

This way, folks can get exports in and we can be done until late next week. I will hold off on the draft sim until next week Friday and then based on how many of you are around, we'll decide whether to push forward with free agency or wait until say, the 2nd of January.

No big deal. Happy Holidays to everyone in advance and I sincerely appreciate you playing fast-sim with me this year. It's been an absolute blast as I never expected this league to get anywhere and yet, here we are almost 30 seasons into this silly little experiment and a healthy group of active owners. So seriously, kudos to all of you.

Looks like I need to motivate these kids.

I'll be traveling tomorrow, I'm going back home after being gone for 2 months, so you won't see an export for me, most likely. I'll get one in tonight, however.

Columbus 78-82
Carolina 67-93

Winnemucca 89-71
Rio Grande 81-79

San Diego 60-100

NL EAST CHAMPIONS: Gettysburg
NL WEST CHAMPIONS: Denver
NL PRESIDENT'S DIVISION (WILD CARD): Washington

AL EAST CHAMPS: Cuyahoga
AL WEST CHAMPS: St. Louis
AL PRESIDENT'S DIVISION (WILD CARD): Winnemucca

I'd originally setup this year's postseason to allow 5 teams per league, but I thought better of it. All of the 4/5s are average clubs, honestly.

So we'll sim the playoffs tomorrow night. Congrats to the playoff teams, to Denver for making their debut playoff appearance in their 3rd year of existence. Elimination Series has been increased to a best-of-seven game series up from best-of-five, mostly because if we're not going to expand the playoffs, we should have these wild cards playing a bit more than a short series.

This is Winnemucca's 10th straight post-season appearance, Washington's 5th (they've been to the NLCS in every one of their five previous playoff appearances in franchise history, but still have no NL pennants to show for it.)

Denver's 1st appearance, the last expansion team to make the post-season in their 3rd year was Kauai and they won it all that year. Cuyahoga is making their 3rd straight appearance and seek to become the first repeat champion in eight years. St. Louis makes their 3rd appearance in five years, all of those coming since the team's 1st season in St. Louis in 1861. The team did make the playoffs during the 1st year (in Milwaukee) in '57.

Cool... this is a busy week, and I do like to study my choices.

Good luck tonight, playoff teams.

And the Gomers are hoping for a chance to beat St Louis in 9 again!

I don't think we'll start back up again until next week Thursday or Friday.
