President Joe Biden on Saturday announced the return of seven Americans he said were wrongfully detained in Venezuela for “years.”

“Today, after years of being wrongfully detained in Venezuela, we are bringing home Jorge Toledo, Tomeu Vadell, Alirio Zambrano, Jose Luis Zambrano, Jose Pereira, Matthew Heath, and Osman Khan. These individuals will soon be reunited with their families and back in the arms of their loved ones where they belong,” the President said in a statement.

The seven American detainees were released in exchange for the release of two Venezuelans imprisoned in the US, both nephews of Venezuelan first lady Cilia Flores.

Yep charge him and let him have his time in court. As far as I know there is no connection to a VP or President Biden administration, but I'm sure will be hearing he should resign from the right. I mean its not like he stole from a children's charity or something like that...

I'm not sure how I feel about Biden pardonning simple marijuana chargers at the federal level. For all its medical uses, it is still an addictive drug that can cause problems/changes in behavior for those abusing it. I worry that 5/10 years for now, we have a whole bunch of MA (marijuana anonymous) clinics and meeting places like we have for AA now. I'm not sure there is enough science out there yet to justify this action from Biden.

There's a lot of science out on it. It's pretty safe unless you're a child with a developing brain. I wouldn't have a problem with making the age 21 and older (which I think most states do).

It seems silly to lock people up for a drug that is considerably less dangerous than alcohol. Especially when the feds let the largest opiate dealer off with nothing.

FWIW it's been legal here for 10 years and I can confirm we do not have a bunch of MA clinics and meeting places.

This. One of the you tube couples I watch had to stop filming for a while because one of them, who was taking it for medical reasons, became addicted to it. Maybe one of the first I've heard of.

I don't drink or do any pharmaceuticals for the record. I do smoke a gram of 70% THC oil everyday and I grew weed for 7 years. I never said it wasn't medicinal. I said it will cause physical dependence and withdrawal.

I have also been hospitalized with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, and let me tell you it is definitely not awesome. Often confused, or combined with cyclic vomiting I basically puked until I got so dehydrated that my kidney started failing.

..but I am still a daily user & have been for most of my life. In my opinion it seems obviously less harmful than practically any other drug in our culture, and I can personally function capably while high in just about any capacity without the slightest worry or notice, but that doesn't mean it's harmless.
