The Ladder - 2021

Spoiler

Welcome to 2021! It's once again time to set up your recruiting board, redshirt players, and work on your out of conference schedule. Please let me know which teams you'd like to have on your out of conference slate.

User vs User games

Week 3 USC at UTSA (out of conference game-CPU scheduled it, not me. Open to changing it.)
Week 8 Buffalo at USC
Week 8 Florida Atlantic at UTSA
Week 11 Buffalo at Indiana

No USC vs. Indiana....

Macro, I already gave you BYU, since you usually want to play them.

Little NC rematch early in the year.. I think I'm ok with it. I need a couple games to get used to a new playbook, but I'm fine with it as long as I can play games in the first 2 weeks as well.

Out of conference I would like to play all Big Ten teams if possible.

Stanford, Washington, Oregon, UCLA, or Oregon State top my preferred list.

I'm fine with keeping the game in week 3.

As far as other games: San Diego State, Arizona State, Arizona, Texas, Texas A&M are my preferences in that order.

Weeks 8-15 are locked for FAU. You'll host FIU in Week 7, and Florida in Week 5. Week 14, you host Duke, Weeks 8 & 9 are away games.

I am so excited to start this season, but I probably won't have time to play a game until the 23rd anyway. I work this week and Monday I take my mom to Philly for a doctor's appointment.

Edit: just remembered appointment is at 3 so look forward to playing Monday Morning!

That mean lookin Stanford came to a wet ugly rainy Buffalo and went back home with a cold and a feeling of getting beat down.

It was a good game, Gates threw for 5 TD's and some of my FR on defense played big, but it was my Senior and Junior DB's that played very well.

Gilmore has never had a weapon at WR as fast as our #2 WR Culver who is blowing the top off defenses and adding a new dimension to my offense. Culver provided early big plays as Gilmore didn't have an incompletion until late in the 2nd quarter. Jimmy Stewart adds 2 punt returns for TD's and we jumped to a 28-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Our defense knocked out their starting QB and their backup throws 3 picks in the 2nd quarter. That helped us take a 49-3 lead at the half. Our defense kept getting picks in the 2nd half and we cruised to a 87-3 win.

One stat of note: Gilmore had his highest passing yards of his career today while also rushing for over 100 yards.

We were having a tough game at Duke until Doug Rivero, our true freshman CB, had a pick-six early in the 3rd quarter that put us up 21-14. We followed that up with a touchdown on our next drive, and eventually put the tough Blue Devils away, 35-23. Their defense is for real, as they forced us into 4 turnovers.

Its so hard to find time for this right now, my son is on break from school and my internet service doesn't get moved down to this apartment for a while.. On top of that I am working 6 days a week for the next couple weeks with a couple double shifts being thrown in.. I might have a shot at getting a game or two in this week sometime.

Interesting that you went with CB for Rivero. I thought that was going to be his best position when I was recruiting him.

It's too bad Chesapeake dropped out. His team would be a force if he was still at the helm.

USC had a very good week! We got a commit from a big time athlete. We also jumped all over SDSU early. The opening kickoff was returned for a TD and that got our crowd fired up. That helped propel us to a quick 21-0 lead early in the game. We cruised to a 35-0 lead and then suddenly after being shut down all game, their offense sprung to life! They scored on a quick strike. Gilmore threw his first pick of the year and they capitalized on that. Suddenly, it was 35-21 after a fumble! They were rolling. We ended the half on a high note with a kickoff for another TD, to make it 42-21 at the half.

In the 2nd half, our defense never stifled them like they did in the 1st quarter but they made key plays when it mattered and stopped them from scoring. We cruised to a 91-28 win.

Gilmore set a new career high for passing yardage and Culver had a very big day again.

BYU attempted to make it a game and brought it within 7, 43-35...then my defense took over after I screamed at them for a good 5 minutes.

I thought I was in a bad backup QB situation as Gates was knocked out of the game for the 2nd half...well, Mason did an ok job.
