players playing out of position

A couple of people have mentioned linebackers getting rushing attempts even though they are not on the depth charts. Something similar but not as egregious happens with kick and punt returners too. Since the game doesn't generate kick and punt returners properly, the highest rated punt returners are Jerry Rice and Ron Dayne, neither of whom are realistically punt returners. So I have other players locked in on the depth charts for punt returns. But the computer completely ignores the depth charts and gives Ron Dayne all the punt returns. There seems to be no way to stop this.

This would happen in FOF4 too, but it's much worse now that the game is unable to properly generate return men because of a bug.

On my Rams Faulk and Bruce are rated as the best punt and kick returnmen. There's no way that I'm letting them take the chance of injury doing this. I have non-rated players doing my returns and have not had the problem you describe. They're not doing a great job but better than I expected with averages on kicks in the high teens.

Are you quick simming? I watch all my games but don't call plays I only write a gameplan.

I've been just watching scoreboard letting coaches call plays per game plan. I had this problem with FOF4 too, where once or twice a game Tim Brown would return a kick, even though he was not listed and the depth chart players we both healthy and had decent kick return ratings. In FOF4 it seemed like it was always the first return of the game when Tim Brown would return, but with FOF2004 I'm getting Ron Dayne doing it every time, all 250 lbs of him. I guess I should just be glad my linebackers aren't returning kicks.

At least it's not your center... that would be really bad
