OT: Which game is better, FOF or TCY?
I've only played FOF, so which game does everyone think is better?

That's kind of a loaded question. I would say FOF but then I prefer NFL to college.

IMO, FOF2k4 is more "fun" for TCY, plus multiplayer adds SOOO much to the experience.
YMMV, of course.

I'd say FOF2004 overall is much better. TCY is a little behind, because TCY came out, then FOF4, then FOF2004. TCY is still a great game though. You can't go wrong with either of them if you like this type of game.

It's a definite case of personal preference. I like FOF better, but that's because I like the pro game better than college. Plus, I prefer handling contracts over recruiting. But that's just my opinion.

VPI - Right on.
FWIW - TCY is a college football sim and it's rock solid and well done (except for a weird career exploit that is completely transparent if you don't know about it and that you don't need to know about because ignorance is bliss ). Anyway - If you like College Football you will like TCY. It's that simple! |

It's a little unfair to compare them, since FOF is current and TCY is nearly three years old.
That said, I've found that most people who prefer the college game in real life prefer (or preferred) TCY, while those who prefer the pro game lean toward FOF. Put me in the FOF camp. |

Are there issues with importing TCY graduates into FOF2K4 rookies? I remember awhile ago, that some folks were saying how backup QBs in their TCY years become FOF2K4 starters or the like. Is this still the case?

For solo play I prefer TCY, because it is a challenge to take your little school all the way to the top of the heap. FOF career solo play is limited to about 4 years and then it is just 1 Superbowl after another.
I am currently in a MP FOF2004 league and have decided to make my next solo career with TCY2. But, then again I love a long hard challenge where you get to start off with all the card are stacked against you.

I used to like this as well but after experiencing the recruiting in FBCB I just don't anymore. I like the streamlined version that FBCB offers much better.

i'm more of a pro football fan, but i like the challenge of taking a crappy team in TCY and making them a powerhouse.

I love TCY. The recruiting is great and the Bowl system makes it fun. I love combining that with FOF and almost playing as one game so I can draft my players once they graduate.

They are both great games, and I don't have any negative comments on either game. For me, the allure of FOF is the multiplayer mode. I don't really get into the singleplayer mode much anymore, but I can certainly understand the enthusiam of those who do.
I absolutely love TCY, and the game has paid for itself many times over with the enjoyment that I have received from it. I have always been fascinated with the recruiting process in college football, and Jim has done a marvelous job of capturing it in this game. I'm sure that we'll eventually be rewarded with a bigger and better TCY sometime down the road, but the first version is a big winner in my book. |

I'm a bigger fan of college football, therefore I play TCY more. However strictly comparing them as games FOF is certainly better. Now if TCY had the same engine for gameplay and let you call your own plays I might change my mind. (hint, hint, please Jim, give us the ability to call our own game someday in TCY)

Let me put it this way, everytime I start a joint universe, TCY players into my FOF game, I either:
a) Play TCY for a few weeks and "forget" to export my players because I am dying to get to the next season OR b) Play FOF so much that I get further along in that career than I have drafts to import. |

Why is this OT?
I would say it is one of the few post that is about FOF. Just curious. |

I like FOF2004 more, because I like to call plays. It helps me to know my players so much better.
That said, if TCY was updated with playcalling, it'd be close. I'd probably play both A LOT. |

I could never get into the player development aspects of TCY. I'm not saying that they should not be there because they are a big part of college football, but it always made it hard for me to get really into TCY the way that I could in FOF.

There are both great games.
I'd say it depends if you're more of a "Pro Football" or "College Football" fanatic... I own both and am very happy with it :-)
