The Blue Sky Conference (FBCB Dynasty)
What I've done is, using version 1.1.0 of Fast Break College Basketball on my laptop (I'm having problems with 1.1.1 on my new desktop), I've created a new conference called the Blue Sky Conference that's made up of really crappy teams from the southeastern area of the US (the two highest prestige teams at the start were tied at 9) and then created 10 Level 0 human coaches, assigning each coach to a team.
I've also set conference prestige updates due to teams performance, so it'll be interesting seeing how things go. The first two seasons are already complete, so I'll be posting data from them bit by bit until I get caught up to the third season that I'm presently in. Hopefully you guys will enjoy this ![]() The schools: Birmingham Southern Charleston Southern Eastern Kentucky Florida A&M Gardner Webb Liberty Morris Brown Savannah State Southeastern Louisiana William & Mary

Does anybody have any ideas on how to better fix this coding? It's giving me a headache trying to go back and re-edit everything and it's falsely inflating my views every time I try and edit the fucking thing so I have no idea how many people are reading

Okay, before I give myself a headache fighting with more of the code function, I'll just ask...
Are people out there interested in this type of dynasty?

Call me a masochist, but I've decided to slog ahead... Here are the first season's pertinent NCAA results that I could gain after advancing past the first season without writing it down
2000 NCAA Tournament Final Four Results: Duke defeats Florida Kansas defeats Syracuse 2000 NCAA Championship Game Result: Duke beats Kansas 101-85 to finish with a staggering 39-2 record! 2000 NIT Champion: Auburn Code:

Oh and a note I just have to add since I forgot to put it the recruiting results...
PG Demetrius Yuan, the Florida Mr. Basketball who had Florida A&M his #1 for ages and who was still being recruited hardcore as he'd be a major coup for the Rattlers.... signed with his #2 school, Florida Atlantic. I was really heartbroken for Florida A&M and for the conference when I saw that email. He was that damn good that he would have instantly turned the Rattlers into a powerhouse within the conference. In fact, I'll probably track his stats from season to season at Florida Atlantic simply because of how phenomenal he is and the "Might-Have-Been" factor. Not that I can blame him for signing with the Owls. They were a higher prestige team than Florida A&M and are competing in the Atlantic Sun, which is a 2 prestige conference at the moment as opposed to the crappy 1 prestige Blue Sky.

Notes: the + or - in parantheses after each prestige is the change in prestige from last season. Starting with the third season, you'll see two + or - numbers after each current prestige. The first one will be the change in prestige from last season and the second one will be the overall change in prestige from the very beginning. This will give a true sense of the general progression of the teams, I think ![]()

Their freshmen backcourt tandem was absolutely phenomenal, though PG Sterling Brotherton was unfortunately out for about 2 and 1/2 months with an ankle injury. Had he been able to play the whole season, he might have beaten out Lopez for the PG All-Freshman spot. Isidro Musick, Lopez's Savannah State teammate and the preseason favourite to win Freshman of the Year for the conference also had a solid season. Pretty nice freshmen performances all around... and a hell of a lot better than last season's. I'm kind of glad Charleston Southern won the tournamen this year, since they got robbed last year. Next season doesn't look too hot for Southeastern Louisiana at the moment though, as they're losing two seniors to graduation who were both 2-time selections to the Blue Sky All-Conference First Team.

Oh, I forgot to include in the Conference Preview post....
Matt Binetti of Charleston Southern went up to Level 1 last year after winning Blue Sky Coach of the Year and having his team be the conference champs, so his new stats are: Recruiting:50 Scouting:10 Offense:30 Defense:30

2001 Blue Sky Conference Leaders:
Points: 12.0 Sr SF Lawrence Soukop Southeastern Louisiana 11.9 Jr SG Ronald Shields Eastern Kentucky 11.2 Jr SF Abel Hammock Charleston Southern 10.5 Sr SG Kenneth Arzola Birmingham Southern 10.2 So SG Preston Spears William & Mary No one else was in double figures, sadly enough. It's interesting to note that all of these guys are either SG or SF and pleasing to see that only two of them are seniors, which means the rest will come back since I've decided not to allow people to graduate early since that's always been my preference. ![]() Rebounds: 7.4 Sr C Wilton Pendleton Gardner Webb 6.9 Sr C Orlando McQueen Charleston Southern 6.7 Jr PF Tony Layman Charleston Southern 6.7 Sr C Kevin Johnston Savannah State 6.3 So C German Crawford Eastern Kentucky Disappointing numbers here as not even one single person came remotely close to double figures. Also sad to note is that only two of these guys aren't seniors, though on the bright side one is a sophomore so hopefully he'll improve. Also looking at this, it seems as though rebounding was a key part of Charleston Southern's success this season. Assists: 4.2 Jr PG Mario Agnelo Liberty 3.7 Sr PG John Lincoln Charleston Southern 2.9 Fr PG Sterling Brotherton Southeastern Louisiana 2.8 So PG Preston Hagar Eastern Kentucky 2.7 Sr PG Paul Roche Birmingham Southern Agnelo's significant conference lead in assists is a large part of why he won the Blue Sky Player of the Year award, though I'd argue that somebody else was more deserving. Still, no real standout players in the conference this year. It's nice to know that Agnelo will be back and hopefully Brotherton will continue to improve. Like I said, if Brotherton wasn't out for 2 and 1/2 months with that injury, Southeastern Louisiana would have been even scarier this season.

Steals:
1.4 So PG Preston Hagar Eastern Kentucky 1.3 Sr SF Lawrence Soukop Southeastern Louisiana A bunch of players at 1.2 No real distinguishing leaders here, though perhaps that should be expected for this stat.. I'm not certain. We'll see as we chart it through other seasons. Blocks: 1.0 Sr C Arthur Baron Southeastern Louisiana 1.0 Sr PF Gerald Lee Southeastern Louisiana 0.6 Fr PF Stephen Shore Birmingham Southern 0.6 Sr C Shaun Fetter Savannah State 3 others at 0.5 Interesting to note that blocking seems to have been a key part of Southeastern Louisiana's phenomenal season. Also intriguing is that the third best blocker in the conference was a freshman. Whether he'll turn into the King of Blocks by his senior year remains to be seen. Still, it's exciting to see a frosh play that well. Turnovers: 4.0 Fr PG Julius Mangan Birmingham Southern 3.9 So PG Preston Hagar Eastern Kentucky 3.6 Jr PG Kent Roberts Gardner Webb 3.4 Fr PG Hank Lopez Savannah State 5 others at 3.2 As one might expect, the biggest offenders at turning the ball over were young point guards. While, much with steals and blocks, I'm not sure what represents a good number or a bad number, I'm going to say this is pretty bad? Anyway, I hate to end on a negative note, so I'm going to include one more positive stat that relates to this one. A/T Ratio: 2.25 So PG Jonas Sandberg Florida A&M 1.75 Sr PG James Lincoln Charleston Southern 1.62 Sr PG James Howard Charleston Southern 1.57 Fr SF Conrad Rubio Charleston Southern 1.47 So PG Fritz Lawson Southeastern Louisiana I think playing in a substitute role has a tendency to skew the A/T ratio, as the only starter among the top 5 is Lincoln. Still, this list is instructive in pointing out that a key to Charleston Southern's success this season was their ability to have good ballhandling from their players and not turn the ball over much while getting a good number of assists.

As promised, I'll be tracking Demetrius Yuan's stats from year to year, since he should have gone to Florida A&M but the bastard went to Florida Atlantic instead.
PG Demetrius Yuan GS: 30 PPG: 12.5 RPG: 1.7 APG: 2.3 TPG: 3.7 A/T: 0.63 SPG: 0.5 Awards: NONE! He was actually beaten out by a RS Frosh from Georgia State by the name of Garland Collins for the Atlantic Sun Freshman All-Conference PG spot. Looking over the stats, I can see why they gave it to Collins. Higher APG at 3.2 and better A/T at 1.47 negate his lower 9.3 PPG. The Owls did improve from last season with Yuan at the point, though, going from a 9-20 record to a 10-20 one, and more importantly, going from 4-14 in conference play to 7-11. If only he had come to Florida A&M...

Oh shoot! I just realized I forgot to include the NCAA and NIT pertinent results for this season! Upsets will be bolded, and just so that you know, I don't consider games won by the lower seed if they're only one apart to be an upset (i.e. an 9 beating a 8, or a 3 beating a 2 for example) The one exception will be any time a #1 seed falls
Here they are: West Region: 1st Round #1 UCLA def. #16 Vermont #9 Virgina def. #8 Kent State #4 Connecticut def. #13 UC-Irvine #5 Iowa def. #12 Siena #2 Fresno State def. #15 St. Francis-NY #10 Purdue def. #7 Brigham Young #14 Samford def. #3 Georgia #6 Kansas def. #11 Detroit Midwest Region: 1st Round #1 Arizona def. #16 Valparaiso #8 Notre Dame def. #9 Gonzaga #4 Illinois def. #13 Eastern Illinois #5 Xavier def. #12 Toledo #2 Iowa State def. #15 Alabama State #7 Michigan State def. #10 Arkansas #3 Cincinnati def. #14 Evansville #6 Utah State def. #11 Southern Methodist South Region: 1st Round #1 Duke def. #16 James Madison #9 Oklahoma def. #8 Marshall #4 St. John's def. #13 Western Kentucky #5 Tulsa def. #12 Richmond #2 Kentucky def. #15 College of Charleston #7 Stanford def. #10 Pepperdine #3 Texas def. #14 North Carolina #6 Miami def. #11 Tennessee East Region: 1st Round #1 Syracuse def. #16 Idaho State #8 Providence def. #9 UTEP #4 Indiana def. #13 Navy #5 Maryland def. #12 Miami (OH) #2 Florida def. #15 South Carolina State #7 Wake Forest def. #10 Princeton #3 Temple def. #14 Northwestern State #6 Georgetown def. #11 Baylor West Region: 2nd Round #1 UCLA def. #9 Virginia #4 Connecticut def. #5 Iowa #2 Fresno State def. #10 Purdue #6 Kansas def. #14 Samford Midwest Region: 2nd Round #1 Arizona def. #8 Notre Dame #4 Illinois def. #5 Xavier #7 Michigan State def. #2 Iowa State #6 Utah State def. #3 Cincinnati South Region: 2nd Round #1 Duke def. #9 Oklahoma #4 St. John's def. #5 Tulsa #7 Stanford def. #2 Kentucky #3 Texas def. #6 Miami East Region: 2nd Round #1 Syracuse def. #8 Providence #4 Indiana def. #5 Maryland #2 Florida def. #7 Wake Forest #6 Georgetown def. #3 Temple West Region: Sweet 16 #1 UCLA def. #4 Connecticut #6 Kansas def. #2 Fresno State Midwest Region: Sweet 16 #1 Arizona def. #4 Illinois #7 Michigan State def. #6 Utah State South Region: Sweet 16 #1 Duke def. #4 St. John's #7 Stanford def. #3 Texas East Region: Sweet 16 #1 Syracuse def. #4 Indiana #6 Georgetown def. #2 Florida West Region: Elite 8 #1 UCLA def. #6 Kansas Midwest Region: Elite 8 #1 Arizona def. #7 Michigan State. Just two of the schools had classes that were ranked in the 200s, which is a huge improvement from last season and a sign of the improving quality of the programs in terms of prestige. Most exciting about the recruiting classes of the Blue Sky Conference for this year definitely *has* to be that we've got, for the very first time, a High School All-American playing in the Blue Sky, *and* two Mr. Basketballs for their respective states! As a result of a controversial awarding of the regular season conference title from last season to Liberty, the Flames have the largest prestiged jump from last season. Interesting to note is that we now have 4 teams in the conference in double digit prestiges after only 2 seasons. Very nice to see! With any luck, we'll also have our first 20 prestige team next season.

Receiving Facility Upgrades For Next Season:
Birmingham Southern (Current:0 Conf Rank:7) Eastern Kentucky (Current:3 Conf Rank:5) William & Mary (Current:1 Conf Rank:6) I've also decided to track who will be receiving upgrades from season to season in their training facilities and post a conference ranking of the facilities qualities each year. Yes, this is expanding the amount of work I have to do, but I think it's fun... and I enjoy it (In spite of my prolific amount of cursing due to code function difficulties)

Binetti has competition this season, as a few more head coaches in the Blue Sky Conference now qualify for Level 1 status. Here they are, with their change in stats:
Tim Moungey Eastern Kentucky Rec:30 Scout:21 Off:13 Def:56 Mike Wilson Liberty Rec:11 Scout:14 Off:50 Def:45 Some assistant coaches went up as well, most to Level 1 with one exception: Ariel Shaw Charleston Southern (Recruiting) Rec:42 Scout:13 Off:35 Def:30 Jacques Ellis Charleston Southern (Assistant) Rec:28 Scout:11 Off:67 Def:14 Bryce McLaughlin Liberty (Scouting) (Level 2) Rec:41 Scout:44 Off:0 Def:55 McLaughlin instantly becomes a hot commodity who wants $50,000 instead of the $35,000 he's making now.

No job offers for our guys in the head coach movement round, which I was a little surprised to see. I thought for sure Binetti would get some looks if nothing else.
Oh well! Note: This is also as far as we go before the start of the third season previews.... If anyone at all out there besides me is reading this, any suggestions or additions you'd like to see? Because it's not for myself that I'm putting this up here.. Hell, I can just store all this data on my hard drive like I was doing before I started to make a thread of it... I just thought people might be interested in seeing this is all

Thanks for the reply, Radii ![]() Yeah, I found it pretty amazing that Duke managed to open up with back-to-back titles. My guess is though that they aren't going to threepeat in season three if that's any consolation ![]()

I downloaded the demo and am checking the game out now. I'm in the mood for a different sort of sim.

I'm reading, but not clear on something...
So the coaches are set to "Human" so they can't get fired, but you don't actually control them? The assistants do all the recruiting? Are you having any impact on what happens in the game? Thxs, ~kns

I was gonna ask something similar to this because i notice in the team previews that he has a gameplan setting for each team. Are you setting all of these yourself or just hitting " recommend" for each team ? |
