External Hard Drive Problem
I bought a USB external 3.5" hard drive enclosure the other day. I plan on buying a new hard drive to go with it but I thought I'd try an old drive I had at home first to see if there were any issues with it.
The drive I had was a 6 GB model and everything seemed to go OK when I put it in. It then said that it needed to be formatted before use. No problem I thought but then the only option it gave me for the capacity was 1.96 GB. What's up with that? I know that I'm only working with a drive that fits about the same as a DVD ( I have a DVD burner ) but I'm just wondering what the problem is. Is the same thing going to happen when I buy a 200 GB drive? I've tried looking up Google and searched the microsoft support files without any luck. Any ideas here? |
