Talking Talladega Weekend Baby!

Today is The Race for Talladega! The Third Race of The Nextel Cup Playoffs!
This is arguably gonna be the best and most exciting race of the season.
Finally side by side racing instead of follow the leader.
Go #8!!!!!!!

I never like Talladega too much. I'm a short-track fan.

Well, he's out now, Chem. Looks like Jimmie Johnson is the culprit, for the second Talladega race in a row.

Mark Martin just wasted his mulligan. If he expects to win, then alot of people will have to wreck and he'll have to crack out some phenomenal finishes over the last ten races.

Now you know why people don't like restrictor plate races as much.

A spectacular flip in the air by Scott Riggs. Shows as a testament to how safe these cars are.
Oh Jimmie Johnson is out! Good I hate that little prick!

Gotta say I came into the race late due to tracking my bengals game, but damn that was some excellent restrictor plate racing today. Great run by stewart there for awhile, bigtime assist from jarrett to get out from then Jarrett gets a huge run and wins it in overtime. Damn fine event. Congrats to jarrett for the win and Stewart for retaking the points lead!

I'm not a huge fan of the plate races, but I'll watch them over anytihng but football. I wish they could do something to slow the cars down and not need them. They did a test a couple years back without the plates and some cars reached 230 mph, thats just unsafe for the drivers. In a draft they could easily push 240-250mph without the plates. At those speeds the cars will become airbown on their own, no matter how many flaps they put on them.

I think plate-less races would be exciting, but there has to be a way to guarentee the speeds stay at or bwlow 200 mph or its just not worth the risk.
