Banned from SI games forums?
I been setup I tell ya. I didn't do it! I'm doing the time, but there ain't no way I've done the crime.
I just went to register at the SI games forums to see if anyone had posted any helpful training tips, well I entered what I thought was account name, but got nothing. I then tried to find my login/password through the help menus, but they returned nothing. I thought maybe they had redone their forum DB or something...so I went to create a new account. When I entered my new email address, a gmail address so I don't even think it is possible I have ever even given them that address before, I was told that the email address had been banned! I really don't know what the deal is. I don't think I've ever violated any of their rules...at least not knowingly. I don't know what the deal is. I sent an email request to determine what the deal is, but I'm stumped. I WON'T accept the banning I tell you!! |

I believe they have banned all of the free email addresses on new signups. My old ID is no longer valid on SI's forums as well so I feel your pain.

Stupidest thing I've ever heard of. I don't use any for pay addresses anymore. If I change providers, I have to change email addresses. |

Your annoyance is understood (and agreed here).
On the other hand, I can understand why they chose to go that route as people can be simply retarded. Anyhow, I'm sure as soon as MV or one of the SI guys have a chance to notice your problem, they'll take care of you. They have always been super cool with this particular problem. |

Glengoyne, did you get in? I checked the membership list and saw one with your name successfully registered today. If not, PM me and I'll see if I can do anything - not sure how much control I have over that stuff as a mod, so far I've only had to kick people out, not let them in.
(And I think the free e-mail ban may be going away, it just hasn't been done yet - probably a casualty of Marc Duffy's recent paternity.) |

I've never been to the SI forms but am I the only person who doesn't even have a pay email? I assume it comes with some ISP's, as I remember my old dial-up I had a special email, but my new DSL provider doesn't give out email addys.

It's funny but my "pay" email is a yahoo address because I use SBC/Yahoo DSL.

I did actually get in tonight, as I figured out/remembered how to access a pay email account that I don't use. Thank You for the offer of help. It is much appreciated. Is there any chance I can change the email address associated to my account to gmail address? That would make things much easier, as I am about to shut off the account that I'm currently registered there with. Thanks Again Last edited by Glengoyne : 11-29-2005 at 12:50 AM. Probably not until/if they start allowing free e-mail accounts - which hopefully won't be that long. Once that happens, you should be able to change it from the edit profile screen.

If you cant change it yourself PM me with your account name and what you want your email addy to be and I'll over-ride it ...
PS> I'm afraid we're not likely to start accepting free email addy's again simply because of the amount of idiots we were getting with them, tis a shame when a vocal idiotic minority cause such changes - but the SI boards are chaotic enough at the best of times without encouraging things to get any worse |

As usual Marc, you are completely on top of things. I do understand why you would ban the free email addresses, because I have seen how hairy your forums can be. So with that in mind, I withdraw my criticism that it is the "stupidest freaking thing I've ever heard." Although guys like Barkeep are going to present a bit of a problem for you. |
