How dumb can you be?

my wife overheard a co-worker today:

"these Olympics are so boring, even the announcers are telling people to mute their TVs".

and yes, she was 100% serious.

I co-coach my son's soccer team, we had practice tonight. We left a bit late, I got a bit frustrated with my son over a nagging minor issue in the car, and we had to pump up his ball when we got there. Long story short, I left my keys in the ignition, with the car turned on for the full hour and a half practice, car unlocked, while I was a good 200 yards from the car and it was totally out of sight.

It didn't get stolen, but the battery was dead when we got back to the car. We jumped it, and all is well.

To answer the original question, I can be pretty fucking dumb.

I don't get it.

Yes I can be totally stupid, but what were the announcers saying that she mis-interpreted? I can't figure it out for the life of me.

*Worried that I'm going to look like a complete utter fool when it's explained to me*

I imagine she heard a newscast where they told her to put it on mute while they were giving spoilers...that's the way I see it anyway.

Ah! The old tape delay bullshit.

Can you tell I haven't watched the Olympics in years?

Thanks!
