North Korea refuses UN Inspection

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...701EDT0804.DTL

There's something grimly inevitable about all this...

Although I believe the US will inevitably get involved in many wars in the coming years, I think North Korea won't be a place we invade. They already have nukes and there military is powerful compared to Iraq or other potential adversaries. And that doesn't even bring up Vietnam or the last Korean War.

The sad part, though, is that if I'm right and it is only North Korea's power that deters the US, then "might" really does make "right."

Sorry, I couldn't read the rest of that article because I was laughing too hard.

Reports now saying NK is open to multi-lateral talks. Before they were only interested in talking with the US.

Nah, it's just more North Korean bullshit.

Today, the Korean Central News Agency quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying that if the United States was "ready to make a bold switchover in its Korea policy for a settlement of the nuclear issue," then North Korea would "not stick to any particular dialogue format."

Interesting article in the Asia Times about this ( http://www.atimes.com/atimes/China/ED09Ad01.html )

"Diplomats say the pipeline from the Daqing oilfields in northeastern China to North Korea was temporarily shut down in early March shortly after Pyongyang test-fired a missile into waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan."

in a way you're right. just like we make fun of the French for being French and for being pussies (i know, i'm being redundant), we should step up to the plate and take on NK. failure to do so and we'll be stereotyped ourselves as being bullies who pick on countries who can't match our advanced technological weapons.

thankfully, other Asian countries are against the stance NK is taking, so if we have to go it'll most surely be a UN-focused effort rather than a US/England coalition.
