Screens

Is it me or is that now the deadliest play in the game? I'm not too thrilled about that, actually. Seems a bit much to me.

Now what's interesting is a comparison from FOF2K7 to FOF7. Including sacks, yards per play has changed as follows:

FOF2K7 FOF7 DIFF PCT CHG
Screen 4.06 4.76 0.70 17.2%
Pto4 3.81 5.19 1.38 36.2%
P4To8 5.55 5.52 -0.03 -0.5%
P9To12 6.57 5.99 -0.58 -8.8%
P13To18 7.41 6.58 -0.83 -11.2%
P19To26 8.20 7.13 -1.07 -13.0%
P27To39 7.98 6.84 -1.14 -14.3%
P40Plus 7.33 5.88 -1.45 -19.8%

We played FOF2K7 for so long that I suspect that what you're seeing is that screens and 0-4 yard passes work significantly better than they used to. I often used 20-5-75 or 15-5-80 for my short pass distances to avoid the 0-4 yard black hole. I no longer do that.

Downfield passing was *the* way to go in FOF2K7. Now that longer passing has been toned down and shorter passing improved, it's much more balanced. But longer passing with the right personnel is still extremely effective: http://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/...playerid=24969 (2042 and 2043 are in FOF7.) With that guy and his stud TE, stud WR, solid WR2, good pass-blocking o-line, strong HC/OC, and high passing cohesion, I'm using a barely-modified FOF2K7 PAV and putting up the numbers you see.

Sorry, I forgot I had started this thread! Thanks for the info, I particularly appreciate it since I can't get gameplan analyzer to work.

Seems like your interpretation, plus maybe some bad luck for my defense, is spot on.

Good one. He should play the Lions. We play the bombs like screens and the screens like bombs -only with a much higher completion %!

Bump for the awesome info laid out here. Good stuff, Ben!
