In my head, he will always be linked to Gean Keady. I wasn't college hoops obsessed growing up, so I didn't follow the ins and outs of every team.

But every March, like clockwork, you could depend on Chaney and Keady coming in somewhere between a 6 and an 11 seed and showing up on our TVs for a weekend.

It was comforting.

You could not have convinced me as a youngster in the 80's/ early 90's that Temple and Georgetown weren't not a part of all time basketball royalty. I actually was upset that John Chaney could not get Temple to the Final Four. It was not until later on that I realized that it was F'ckin Temple and Georgetown and the guys are the sidelines were the reason they made that far. 24 years at Temple. One Consensus All-American.
