FOF9 Request Historical Players Files 2017-2019
I am having a blast playing historical career in FOF9 but the historical file does not include the player files for years 2017 - 2022. I have started my career from 1970 and now hitting 2017 but I don't have the year_info, year_player, year_quarterback and draft pool to keep my historical career going. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has the CSV to share. I looked in the mods but could not have find them.
Thank you for your assistance. Aggie Houston Texans |

I have some files that nilodor created for 2018 and 2019. If you PM me an email, I can send them to you.
Note that you won't be able to "keep your career going" with these, though. If you started in 1970, the game is using the 1970_players and 1970_quarterbacks file that you had in that folder when you started the game -- those files actually have players not just from 1970 but for every year after 1970 as well. And you can't add to it -- the game runs with what was in the file at the time you started the universe. What you want to do to find out how long you'll be able to play with real players is open the 1970_players file, go to the last column, and look at the last row. Whatever year is there, that's the last year of players it has in it. If you're using nilodor's rev0, that probably ends in 2016. He's extended it to 2018, but you'd still have to start a new career. Or you can just say you've hit the future and let it roll. |

Just an FYI - you can update those player files after a universe has begun. You can't change players that have already been introduced, but you can add new players for the future or edit those who have not been generated yet.
A cheeky way you can add new players (which I plan to do once I get farther) is to copy all the newish players from FOF9's default player file, paste them into the player file(s) you're using, and replace their Player ID, uniform number, and contract information with "0" (maybe other columns as well). You would be missing a lot of real life players but it's the fastest way I can think of to add any recent stars in. EDIT: I just noticed there is no BASE_YEAR column in the default player files. You would have to add that once you've copied the players to your own file, and add the correct entries as well (2019, 2020 etc.) Last edited by KingZal : 01-06-2025 at 12:09 AM. |

I somehow thought there is a difference between the "main" player file that includes 2023, or now 2024 players, to the historical file.

Are you saying if you start a universe in, say, 2016, and your 2016_players file has only players from 2016 to 2022 in it, you can go back into the 2016_players file and add 2023 players before you get to 2023 in your universe? Have you tested that? It just seems so different from everything else in FOF-land, where files are accessed once you create a universe, and not touched again. |

![]() The way it works is that the xxxx_player and xxxx_quarterback files are rescanned every time the draft is "revealed" in March. So you can go back to the player files you used to start your universe and either modify players who haven't been generated yet, or add new players entirely. Just to stay on the safe side, I keep players in the order they will be introduced by year. I go back and forth between a lot of historical universes, so I do a lot of tinkering in between drafts (i.e. if I don't like how a player turned out in one universe or want to add a fictional character to another). |
