    4th and 1 League History

    League History

This thread will be used to keep track of stats, awards, Superbowl champions, and other accomplishments during and after each season. If you're interested in something being tracked outside of basic stats and accomplishments, PM Madman, SpectreBugg, or myself here or send us a DM on GroupMe and we'll see if we can do it. Starting now, we will never forget 4th and 1 league history.

Re: 4th and 1 League History

Some interesting observations when looking at the archives and comparing season 1 and season 2:

            USERS

            - Madman has the best win % in the league during the regular season so far (.906), but has never won a playoff game(0-2).

            - The top 3 users by win % so far are Madman53191(.906), Blue Ninja(.844), and ryby6969(.813) / playadlc(.813)

            - playadlc has the best win % in the playoffs so far(.833).

            - Tom Brady's retirement must have hurt the Patriots a lot as they dropped from 11-5 in season 1 to 7-9 in season 2.

            - The Broncos had the worst regression tho, going from 8-8 in season 1 to 3-13 in season 2.

            - The Giants improved the most in season 2 going from a 9-7 record in season 1 to a 14-2 record in season 2.

            - The Jags, Rams, and Colts also made nice improvements going from 10-6 to 13-3, 9-7 to 11-5, and from 8-8 to 10-6 respectively.

            Passing Stats

            - QB ratings went up by a lot in season 2, but pass yardage stayed about the same. Furthermore, passing TD's dropped significantly in season 2.

This may be because of the patch that was released. The patch made it harder to complete the deep ball so guys stopped going to it as much in season 2. With users taking less shots and focusing more on underneath stuff, it would lead to a higher Qb rating since there would likely be less incompletions and interceptions. With guys having to drive down the field more often instead of completing long bombs, there are less opportunities for scores which means less TD's. I know there were some grumblings about pass defense being worse since the patch, but the stats don't show that. It looks like the pass may have gotten worse for underneath stuff, but deep ball defense seems to have gotten better. This is all speculation tho.

            - Derek Carr and Blake Bortles had their coming out party in 2016 as they weren't even in the top 10 at the end of season 1. They both finished 4th and 5th respectively in season 2.

            Rushing Stats

            - Rush Yards stayed pretty much the same in season 2 as compared to season 1. That means the patch didn't affect rb ability or rbk or anything related to rushing the ball too much.

            - Rush TD's went up significantly in season 2. This may be a result of the patch. Since teams had to drive down the field more often instead of hitting the deep pass, there were more chances to punch it in with the HB.

            - Jeremy Hill is a beast. That's all.

            Receiving Stats

            - On average, receptions were higher in season 1, mainly due to Julio Jones' insane 150 catch season. If you take his numbers away from season 1, receptions are about the same for both seasons.

            - Speaking of Julio Jones, he fell off in season 2. At the end of season 1, he led the league in every receiving category, but did not finish in the top 5 in any receiving category in season 2.

            - Receiving TD's went up pretty significantly in season 2. This is odd since receiving yards were slightly down from season 1. Most of the guys in the top 5 are big guys so I'm guessing they were a better option in the redzone at times or it could be just Julio inflating season 1's receiving yards numbers again. The latter is probably more likely.

            - Odell Beckham Jr is consistent. He is the only WR that is in the top 5 in every receiving category for both seasons.

            - Rookie WR Dex Barr introduced himself to the league in spectacular fashion finishing in the top 5 in both receptions(100) and TD's(20)

            - With Dex Barr and Calvin Johnson, the Lions might have the best WR duo in the league, statistically speaking.

            Defensive

            - Solo tackles are slightly higher in season 2 than in season 1. This is probably because of the increase in underneath stuff discussed earlier.

            - In both seasons, no team with a top 5 player in solo tackles has made the playoffs.

            - Navarro Bowman is the only player in the top 5 in solo tackles in both seasons.

            - Jason Pierre Paul fell off significantly in season 2......... but his team was better.

            - Sacks and interceptions (if you exclude James Laurinaitis) are about the same for both seasons.

            - James Laurinaitis is an interception machine. He and Trae Waynes are the only players in the top 5 in interceptions in both seasons, with Laurinaitis being first both times.

            - Trae Waynes and Darqueze Dennard are the only CB's in the top 5 for interceptions in either season.

There was some pretty interesting stuff here. If you have some feedback, feel free to post it in chat on groupme or, if you prefer, you can pm me on groupme or OS.
