49ers Team Thread M18 AWFL
San Francisco 49ers S1 and Post Season.
After a disappointing season, which saw the 49ers have extremely close games, Coach Phillips has assured media and fans that this team is building something special. He said that the offensive coordinator change mid-season was more than likely a great decision as the team moves forward. He said the transition to the "Run and Shoot" is a difficult one as the offense has died off. While most of the core concepts have integrated into many teams' playbooks, not one professional football team has based it's identity on the RNS since the late 90s and very early 2000s. "We traded up, in fact gave a sh** ton up to grab one of the best WR threats available. In fact, when you put on the tape, the guy plays like Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz will be in the HOF one day. If Ellis can play have a successful as he did, no one will care how much we gave up. We spent some picks on our offensive line. Liked that we got some great pass blockers. I feel like we're a few years from contending for super bowls, but I promise the fans we WILL win a super bowl. We will watch Jimmy G become the QB we all think he will be."
During the offseason, the hype around Holmes has picked up. While he hasn't garnered the praise from mainstream outlets, those in the Bay area have raved about his unbelievable catch radius and ability to get up and get the ball. The 2nd round pick Center, has solidified himself in the starting role and the OL looks to gain valuable experience. SF is slated to start three rookies on the OL. To say this team is in rebuild mode, is a Stark understatement. We look forward to watching the team progress.
The players in the locker room have really been optimistic about the upcoming season. Jimmy Garoppolo has looked crisp during OTAs this preseason. From Jimmy, "Our offense is coming along nicely. We have a freak of nature out wide and this offense is fun. We can only get better and better. "
