I'm a little lost here. You say they need to get gameplay down first but customization is more important to you than a franchise mode? I guess everyone has their preference but I'm inclined to go with Spank when he says they need a game taht stands on its own first and foremost before worrying about full customization. In this day and age, no sports game should be without a franchise mode IMO.
