EA could lose exclusive NFL rights according to EGM

It was in this months EGM in the rumor mill section. It said that the NFL isn't happy with EA so far and that when the license is up they probably won't go exclusive again.

Good news if its true.

who knows about all these rumors, but hopefully the NFL realized that the video game fanbase was more than a bunch of 10 year olds who wouldnt give a crap. and that deal really screwed alot of sports gamers.

Is EA check not clearing fast enough for the NFL? Sound like wishful thinking by EGM

I think one thing that the NFL underestimated was the amount of press and hype that was generated by Madden vs. 2KSports vs. 989 vs. whatever.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that even though Madden is still selling well there is no buzz about NFL videogames anymore and when there is less press regarding NFL videogames, that hurts the NFL as a whole.

Well thats not true because even when 2K had the NFL liscense they didn't market their game, Hell they had the name ESPN on it and ESPN would still have show like NFL playbook present by EA..

Sort of OT (but focused on the advertising aspect), but Take Two signed on with Double Fusion for in-game advertising, meaning more development money (and possibly advertising money) for the future:
