You can also choose facial hair, hair, accessories, etc. Regarding uniform customization, there are a ton of jersey, shorts, and socks templates that you can select and set the colors for them. You can ALSO edit the team's home field I believe, but I don't remember about that. Basically, if the 2K Football game has customization like this, the sky's the limit as far as customization is concerned.

Edit: I forgot, for editing skills and attributes, there's a ton-- a TON of attributes to mess with. You can also edit your player's equipment (which is CRUCIAL in a football game), and you can even edit INDIVIDUAL players' celebrations from a long list of possibilities.
The Browns' uniforms would be super easy to duplicate - no logo on the helmet. As far as helmets are concerned, I think the Rams, Chargers, and Cowboys would be easy to duplicate, as well. Gameday 004 had the Rams horns and the Chargers lightning bolts as types of helmets for the create-a-team, so I think those helmet designs are not registered trademarks (look how many high school and college teams have the Rams horns, as well). I don't think the Cowboys' star is a registered trademark, either.

Re: IGN on 2K8

I rank NFL 2K5 as the greatest football ever made, but without the NFL players, teams, stadiums, etc... I have zero interest in Football 2K8.

Even if they allow you to edit the players, it won't be the same without the announcers calling out real names, real stadiums, real logo's, etc...

EA already has a lot of legends locked up, so it will be interesting to see what the developers do.

Either way, this new football game will be a bigger flop than Emily's Reasons Why Not.

You mean to say that the game you are calling "the greatest football ever made" is nothing without the NFL license? What exactly made that game great to you?

I'd rather see a generic football game that has a ton of editing options than a legends game. I would focus on a different game like boxing if they're going to go the legend route because the big draw for most is a game that has great presentation like 2k5 and gameplay with a real deep edit option. Plus a way to play the minor leagues of football (Ncaa) would be a good feature to add for depth.

Re: IGN on 2K8

Guys, it's pretty obvious that there will be a 2k8 football game this year (2007) and I would bet on a July release. A few people hit the nail on the head by stating that we (hardcore FB fans) are NOT the majority when it comes to football games.

2k will bring out a Legends game and advertise the heck out of it with some very well known HOF'rs and the casual fans will buy it. They won't even realize that there will be some no name players in it, nor will they even care.

The cover should feature Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino, John Elway, Roger Staubauc <-spelling? and Kenny Stabler and it will sell!

Hey look, I'm not a huge basketball fan but I love playing NBA 2k7. I know some of the superstars but the rest of the players could be made up players and I wouldn't know the differnce and nor would I care. I'm sure it would be the same for football to the casual fan of football.

I also play the CH2k7 and I sure as heck don't know any of those players.

The only thing that may bother me is not having the real team names. If we can atleast have the cities then I think that will be fine. Don't even include a fake name just have the team names as Pittsburgh, San Diego, Chicago and so fourth.

Outside of the solid football engine, I really enjoyed the presentation. I'm talking about the halftime show with Chris Berman, player interviews with Suzy Kolber, ESPN overlays, good commentary, draft preview and recaps with Mel Kipher, etc...

And there was also the Crib mode, and little things like the Lambeau Leap, being able to customize TD celebrations, custom soundtracks, blimps above the field, landmarks outside the NFL stadiums, etc...

I'm only interested in playing a football game with the NFL license. I could say the same thing for MLB/NHL/NBA videogames.

So if the announcers say, "Chicago is losing to Green Bay, 23-20 at the end of the third quarter," rather than, "the Chicago Bears are losing to the Green Bay Packers, 23-20 at the end of the third quarter," the 'greatest football ever' becomes a flop? Or if an announcer says, "Bush is having a great day running the ball, he just can't be stopped," it just isn't the same as "Reggie Bush is having a great day running the ball, he just can't be stopped," it just makes it an unplayable football game? Are you unable to play any college football game or basketball game cuz you need to edit their names into the game?

IMO, if the game has a robust editor (think WE, w/ NBA 2k7's player editor, and a logo editor that functions similarly to making designs on wrestling games) I bet you can get a better depiction of an "NFL" game from the incredible roster editors here at the OS than from EA.

I never said a game without NFL players would be unplayable. I just wouldn't be interested in it. I don't watch College Football and College Basketball so I have little interest in those titles.
