Assuming for a second that this will be just a generic game would you buy it if we can't edit rosters, players, teams, etc....?

Re: If we can't edit the game will you buy it?

This should have been a poll, but...

Here's the thing: If this game does have an editor, the Euphoria physics engine, and is pretty much everything that I'm hyping it up to be, I will go out and buy a 360 or PS3 for this game's release. But see, that's the problem. I have to buy both a console and the game, rather than just the game.

Therefore, for me... yeah, it has to have a very deep editor for me to get it this year as long as I'm 360/PS3-less.

Re: If we can't edit the game will you buy it?

Let's see what Greg Thomas has to say about it:

GS: A lot of people are curious as to the degree of customization there will be in the game. Is there anything you can tell me about that?

GT: I think that [last] gen games had a level of customization. I think the next-gen games now, people are really asking for a lot more customization as you get into much more detail, finer details, and that kind of thing. And so our goal is to really appeal to those next-gen consumers. And so the idea is, hey, we want to give our fans an experience--very much what they expect from us.

I wonder if MOST fans want a customizable game? Obviously, they do and 2K is well aware of this.

I'd have to get a 360 first, but, yeah I think since it's the first step back into the ring, I would at least rent it first and see what can be turned on and off.

Well, if your buying a system for just ONE game, yeah... I'd be thinking about NBA2K8, Halo 3, Mass Effect, and so on. Once you get a HDTV, and game in high-def, you won't find it easy to go back.

BTW, I doubt we see the Euphoria engine, as I'd think 2K would use it for ALL their sports games, not just football. Unless APF 2K8 is the FIRST to use it? I'm assuming "no" but it would be a pleasant surprise.

Re: If we can't edit the game will you buy it?

The lack of a good football game is the only reason I don't have a 360 or ps3. 90% of my gaming is either football or poker. Neither of which has a better offering on the next gen than on xbox/ps2/pc.
I will be buying a new console for this game. Once I have the console I will add a few other titles for when I need a break from football (doesn't happen all that often).

It might seem a bit much to buy a system for one game, but I look at it like this. I have x amount of time to play video games. What difference does it make if Play the crap out of one game, or play several games in shorter sittings? I am still using the system the same amount of time either way.

It depends on the amount of detail that went into creating a fictional league. (If there is no customization there better be a very detailed league.)

If the gameplay is tight absolutely!

I am slowly growing out of having to have the most accurate and up to date rosters for the professional sports. I enjoy the sports themselves as opposed to the players. I am actually starting to hate most pro atheletes.

Customization would be great but it is not necessary to get my 60 bucks. Unfortunately for 2K, I think I am in the minority.
