All Pro Football to outsell Madden?

For the upcoming releases of All Pro Football & Madden on the Xbox 360
and PS3, I believe APF will outsell EA Sport’s perennial powerhouse. Now
I am not talking about the overall sales across all platforms but just
focusing in on the 360 & PS3. Marketing aside, NFL authenticity aside,
I predict the gaming public will embrace an enjoyable sporting game
that has the wow factor of Next Generation Video Gaming. I have no
data regarding the head to head sales of NFL2K5 vs. Madden 2005
on the Xbox platform (forget about the PS2), I do know that 2K’s
sold well, really well, even if part of the overall sales was down to
ticket price. At any rate, just a prediction. On a side note I think
Madden 2008 for the Wii will be a massive seller. Owning both a 360
and now a Wii, I am disappointed to learn that 2K Sports doesn’t
have any foreseeable releases planned for the Wii. With Nintendo’s
system giving a tired Madden franchise a bit of extra step in it’s
legs, one can only imagine the upsides to a 2K-Wii collaboration.

For me my prediction is not based on some want for another company
to topple the Madden franchise - maybe one of the NFL2K5 theologians
here can find the head to head sales figures for Xbox NFLK5 vs. Madden
2005 on the Xbox? Now while NBA Live isn’t nearly as big as Madden,
the 2006 & 2007 versions bottomed out so bad on the 360, that EA pulled
plug on the PS3 version. Again, bear in mind I am only talking about sales
on the 360 and PS3.

Madden's name recognition is like 20x more powerful than Live's, though.

Madden is one of the few games in general that get press in the news (like CNN, CBS, etc.) on the release day.

Honestly, I can't even think of a game that gets more non-negative press in non-gaming news sites the past couple years than Madden.

The sad truth is that people are so caught up with Madden and name recognition that if Take 2 had an exclusive license to do NFL they still wouldnt sell as much as Madden simply because it doesnt say Madden on the box. Its like a restuarant that used to have the best food in the world but now that people know it and love it they slack off...When an upstart restaurant comes in to the neighborhood offering bigger portions, better food, greater service, all around dominance, people still wont go because it doesnt have the same name as the other restuarant. And u can tell that i am at work and starving...lol
