But he's playing the game in April.

The game won't be finished for months. It'll likely be far from complete, just enough to get the gist of the gameplay.

If this was for IGN or Gamespot where they would be able to show builds pretty much up to the day of the interview then it would be something to worry about. Considering it was for a magazine I'm sure it's much farther along than when they showed it.

Besides, dQ, how do you think the software development process works? Do you think that there are no playable builds of a game up until it's completely ready?

There are going to be builds to test and QA. This shouldn't bother you because every game goes through similar processes.
