i like tapping and also like the ability to burst through holes wether it be on offense with the rb or defense with the lb. i think LBzrule explained it the best.

Which is good. Tapping makes no sense in a jump ball. In NFL2K5, it brings a more depth, and it adds thought. Deciding your next move is a more complex thought in 2K's football game.

There is nothing like getting to the hole quick with the linebacker in a 2k game then exploding THROUGH the block or exploding through the ball carrier. And vice versa exploding through the hole at the line of scrimmage with the RB and exploding through a tackle. The tap I think is really made for those situations that requires players to use their short shuttle ability. Think of it this way. The tap and charge are basically trying to mimic the 20 yard shuttle and 3 cone drill that players have to go through at the combine. These drills display certain abilities of individual players.

Here is a description of the drill

I think the tap and charge also mimics the cone drill of the Combine.

And I think you lose that when you are just holding a button down. In most situations in football you are doing more quick and explosive burst than you are sprinting full speed. But alas, I think 2k should keep their style of gameplay. I think the Charge needs to be tied more to fatigue though like taping is. But both should remain IMO.
perfectly stated. I actually wish they had more drills like these in the practice mode. i liked how madden incorporated real drills in learning the moves and controls of the game. i agree that fatigue should be more a factor with charging too.

btw, yeah tapping for the jump ball doesn't make much sense. don't know what else they'll do though.

Great insight - never thought of it like that.

The mechanic offered in previous NBA2K games was just fine. Simply time the jump and press the jump button.
