Freedom to "Bend" the Rules:

Because this game doesn't have an NFL license hanging over it, are there any rules that you would like to see changed in this game?

Maybe a different OT system? A Different Playoff system? Play Clocks? Play Challenging/Instant Replay? Pass Interference?

Or do you want it to strictly follow the current NFL rules?

Personally, I'd like to see a new OT system as I'm not a big fan of the one and done Overtime where the offense scores on the first few plays of OT and the game is over.

I'd also like to see PI penalty's based on the severity of the foul and not see a team get the ball on the 1 because of a ticky tack foul called on a ball that wasn't even catchable.

I'd like to see a college overtime, but from the 50.

And please no instant replay. It's great in real life, but absolutely stupid to put in a video game.

I agree 100%....I was just always afraid to say it here. In all the football games I have played that had instant reply, there have been glaring flaws. Either the CPU wins 99% of the calls and/or the plays are totally obvious like a reciever catching the ball 6 yards out of bounds.

As much as I liked 2K5, almost all the replay reviews where of completions that turned it turned into fumbles.... and all off them were overruled as incomplete. No drama, no suspense...just a big delay.

I think it is one of those features much better suited to head to head matchups as oppossed to playing the CPU.

Re: Freedom to "Bend" the Rules:

The reason I don't like replay is more of the concept of it. In real life, officials are reacting to split second actions. In video games, they aren't. in video games, they just intentionally program the game to make incorrect calls from time to time, which just waists a lot of time. Also do to errors in animations and coding, there are times when the game makes the incorrect call, but can not reverse it because it sees no problem. I just think it's really stupid.

VC had a great replay system in NFL 2k5, if it makes any difference.

I personally enjoyed the replay myself. I never got the stupid ones. I remember only getting ones that made sense. Ones that you had to catch if you were paying attention like if a player tip-toed on the sideline. That was basically what I got. I liked it. I could really get down with a replay joint on the real.

Re: Freedom to "Bend" the Rules:

I personally hope they stick with the NFL rules

I love the replay challenges especially in online games, sometimes people wouldn't even challenge a blown call!

And I hope they keep the ability to do instant replays in multiplayer game, I hate when I get burnt in madden online I can't (pc version at least) check the replay to see how my defense reacted so that it won't happen again etc. I I'm sure some bask in the glory of a great play but it's also used to react to play that keeps beating you. Having the time prevents the overuse.

Now that I keep typing I realized how many things NFL 2k5 got right, I just hope they take that engine refine it to next gen, and add legends!!!
