From 1Up.com:

"a defensive back tipped a ball and his teammate slid to catch it before it hit the ground"

We haven't heard much, but these examples, while not revealing that they are using Euphoria, do imply that we will see animations that have never been seen before.
The slide catch on a tip has already been in 2k games. Don't know if it started in 2k4 or 2k5... may be thinking of a dive rather than slide but whatever it is, I'm sure this was expanded on, NM or not.

Tackle ratings will perhaps come into play as well, but I mean... creating guys with some amount of weight will actually mean something this time around.
This was also already in the games a bit. It could be MUCH better and more realistic but there were a number of animations that varied how the guy got tackled based on things like this. This is one of the main reasons the tackle engine has been light years ahead of Madden and why people complained so much about the "shot in the back" animation in Madden.

Re: Euphoria mummerings

I was really hoping to see Euphoria in a sports game before now....hell, I was asking for it before Madden NFL 2007 and the folks at EA knew all about it then. Problem is that EA is married to their existing Madden Next-Gen engine - and even all of the "improvements" for 2008 and the accompanying videos seem to bare this out.

(The ultimate irony to me was what happened the first time I was downloading the Madden 2008 trailer. I was streaming the video and the buffer ran out freezing the image on one of the "new" animations - but when the image froze, tho and behold, the tackler was frozen in the "I-am-passing-straight-through-solid-matter" pose with his head actually passing THROUGH the guy he was 'tackling'. THAT level of collision detection is what leads to all kinds of shortcmings in Madden and NCAA. And from the looks of it, that ain't fixed for 2008 - which means all the people who want it will have the "same-old-Madden-with-new-rosters-and-useless-'features'" ammo again in August.)

If 2K has actually integrated Euphoria into their game, it will undoubtedly be a superior product to anything EA puts out this year. Of course, they are still going to get stomped in the sales category because ultimately, there are millions of idiots who want to play arcade-style Madden gameplay and at best a couple 100,000 who really want to play an accurate NFL simulator (or even an accurate football simulator). Having the ability to generate physics-based, unique tackles on every play would be awesome, but a previous poster did raise an interesting point - having all 22-players use it may be a bit much to pull off in the first stab. That would mean it would be limited to tackles and the line-play would be canned animations - which by comparison would stick out like a sore thumb....Oh well, that is getting into a hypothetical situation that can wait...I just want to see a game actually utilize the technology and truly bring about some actual "next-gen" gameplay for once!!!!

Re: Euphoria mummerings

if euphoria was in, be ready for some mind numbling hits

players in the NFL often try to avoid massive hits because of risk to injury
but imagine us controlling a defender going full speed doing flying tackles every play. Or instead of going out of bounds with RBs, we just pound that shoulder charge. I cant wait if this is true.

So that would sort of mean that the technology has been around for years also? Although the "Next Gen" has been around for over a year and a half, who's to say 2k didn't bring someone in who has had experience working with the euphoria to assist in transitioning the engine over to 2k football? We see how the 360 is like the little brother pc who likes to play. Compatability! We'll just have to wait and see. Peace

Re: Euphoria mummerings

For 2K to release APF 2K around the same time that Madden is released tells me one of two things:
1) They have a very bad marketing department or;
2) They have one heck of a game that will blow our minds. My guess is that they have something special in store for us football fans, that can compete with Madden (even without the license).

Im gonna go with #1, although I am hoping that it does become the best football game without a franchise (oh wait, it already is)
