The release date...is Taketwo missing the window?

The best shot at selling this game I think in most's opinion is to have it come out prior to either of EA's new football games but it appears that this is not going to happen, ie releasing in June, like many originally speculated.

Do you guys think that they are missing a huge opportunity here to beat the big two games out to market? Of course if the game's not done then it'd be silly to release it but you would think with this much time to get the game out they'd have targeted a mid to late June release to increase sales.

I checked Gamestop yesterday and the release date on there says the same day as Madden 2008. If they do that then they are really making things even worse as the game needs to at least beat Madden to market since there are a lot of people who don't like or buy college football. And coming out on the same day as Madden really couldn't be any worse idea IMO.

Agreed. If they were able to get it out before Madden, some people might pick it up who wouldn't otherwise. If after playing it they really like All Pro, they may skip Madden altogether.

Gamestop has been known to be wrong on multiple occasions

Like, with probably every new game release they always put a date out there just to sell pre-orders

madden will outsell any football game, especially a game that has "fake" rosters...i honestly don't think it really matters when they release this game because it's not going to stand a chance against the hype-machine known as madden football.

They will not go heads up with Madden. I agree they should release before NCAA, but that might not be possible. As long as they get out before Madden, it should be okay.

I think the first or third week of July, and perhaps the first week of August are still attainable release dates - depending on where the game is development wise. June-August are ridiculously slow dates for new games; I'm sure they would've liked to had taken advantage of that. But June looks shot since we have yet to hear any solid info on the game. I'm not worried about any posted release dates; I think they played musical release dates with their football titles for a while now. I think it had gotten to the point where a solid date wasn't set until a couple weeks before the actual release back in the 2K3-2K5 days.

Nor am I that worried about the marketing aspect of it, although they could be doing a MUCH better job of using internet sites/blogs to generate buzz. I think the release date will play a bigger role in any potential success.

Marketing as in pretending to know market trends, why people buy games, when they buy them, what influences their decisions etc. Not advertising.
