I think this would've been cool but don't think they should even hint at Madden. Unlike 2k5, this game isn't looking to get people to buy either one or the other (I should say 2k4 b/c the price of 2k5 was actually intended to get people to try both). Plus, there are plenty of negatives that can be ignored when you're doing commercials like that, but you can't ignore not having an NFL license.

Good points. But I'd argue the Mac commercials are so good, they never touch on perhaps the Mac's biggest weakness - convenience. It's just far more convenient to use a MS-based PC than it is a Mac. The Mac is never going to sniff at Microsoft's dominance in the PC world but I think they've done a great job at securing their niche. And perhaps even expanding it some.

When PC guy is standing there in the commercials, all I think of is Microsoft. If APF turns out to be really good, then I think they would benefit by showing the differences between it and Madden. Not for the purpose of overtaking Madden because long as they have the NFL shield it likely isn't going to happen. But as long as Tiburon flubs their way through NG, I think VC can cement their position if there's enough of a difference in the quality between the two games.

Yeah, I agree with that... but there is no "NFL" in the computer world. Many consumers may have no idea about the convenience problem... or don't think about it before purchasing. Many may think that as the Mac world grows that will get better. You can't get around not having the NFL license the same way. It would be completely out of place to work "convenience" into those commercials, but it'd be hard to avoid bringing up the lack of the NFL, and working hard to avoid it could be perceived as misleading. Most importantly, doing anything to encourage comparisons to Madden is just a bad idea imo.
