Re: espn.com Page 2 story about the game

Hopefully, at some point, the shareholders of EA will get tired of them going out and spending all this dough on exclusives, just to be able to squash the competition. The guy who was CEO of EA at the time the NFL exclusive license was obtained is no longer there, if my memory serves, having stepped down a few months back. There's got to be an end to EA's bottomless pile of money somewhere.

Nice article

Quote:
aggressive defensive back chucks at the line of scrimmage (in our short time with the game, we saw one poor CPU wide receiver get thrown to the turf). The virtual Deacon Jones even deploys his patented head slap … and it's perfectly legal. Concussions for all!
Nice!

Re: espn.com Page 2 story about the game

Man what a great read. Even if I don't care at all about this game, that was a nice article.

Couple of points on posts...

1. if ea puts together a team to make a special edition, legends game then that'd mean the idea worked and APF2k8 is successful.

2. madden (and all other games in the past) have had legends in number and uniform alone. not even the faces matched up, let alone unique playing style or anything close to realistic skill sets (besides everyone in the 90s).

all in all, the more relevant EA helps make these retired players in the video game world, the better it'd be for APF and it's future.

Re: espn.com Page 2 story about the game

There are some legends that will appear in both APF and Madden this year. Let's just hope that if EA decides to go after more legends that they won't sign them to exclusive deals.

The only legends I really wanted in the game that is missing this year are Bo Jackson and Lawrence Taylor. Hopefully LT's deal with Midway will be over if 2K decide to do this again. Bo Jackson played what like 4 seasons? He needs to get off his high horse.

Great article, it makes me want to see a documentary on tracking down these legends.

Damn! It sounds like LT wanted to be in but had signed an exclusive deal.

For 2k9 or 2k10 or whatever all I want is a franchise mode, LT, Fran Tarkenton, and Herschel Walker. Then I'll be good.
