I'm Screwed At This Game (Need HELP)

Oh boy, well since we will have to create our own teams to play online, that means that we also face opponents who have their own created teams so that means that I should know my opponents players a bit as well.

Well the problem is, I don't know much on the history of NFL players, I mean I know the big names such as Marino, Elway, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, OJ, but I don't know that many guys which will be appearing in this game. So in conclusion I am really screwed in this game online.

And my other weakness which I want help from you fellas, I don't know much on the theory/playbooks knowledge of Defense/offense in football. Basically meaning that I don't know what 3-4 defense, dime, nickel, 4-3, bear, etc really mean. I wanna learn more on these matters especially defense. So if someone knows if I can find a good detail for the beginners on this, I would really appreciate it.

Play madden you would fit right in with the crowd playing that game! Just learn how to throw deep and you will be rewarded with a shotgun sound when you catch it!

First I think their special abilities will help you learn what the players strengths and weaknesses are. Plus form a team play exhibition games with them to learn them before taking it online.
As for learning formations. Best advice is when choosing the formations look at the personnel that are put on the field. More DB's mean better coverage etc.
Basically if it's a known run, goaline or 4-3. Known pass Nickel or Dime.
That should help

You don't need to know much since they are all in tiers (Gold, silver, and bronze). Also, you will get to see their attributes such as rocket arm, pocket presence, breakaway burst, workhorse, etc. Can't get much easier for the complicated game of football.

As far as playbooks, well, you'll just have to practice practice practice to find out what is more comfortable to you. If you watch any type of play-by-play analysis by the sports networks on tv then you should be able to grasp the general idea.

Exactly. Thats all you REALLY need to know about a legengd in the game. As time goes by though and you log some hours in, I'm sure you'll get a pretty good feel for the majority of players.

Myself, although I am a big football fan, I don't know alot of the older guys in the game, however, that doesnt discourage me, rather it may expand my knowledge of the game. As did learning current NFL rosters with games I played growing up.

I think once you get the hang of the game, you'll know what works and what doesn't work. Of course, it would be nice to have alot of football knowledge.....but practice and play online for fun. I've never taken it too seriously.

I understand the "books for dummies" term lol you don't have to explain exactly what they mean. As far as the link, thanks
