2k sports have only themselves to blame if this fails. Why limit our ability to create legends or today's legends. I understand the stupid decision not to allows us to create the the NFL but to limit our ability in player creation is just stupid.

2k is their own worst enemy. The closer this games gets to releast the more restrictions this game seems to have with the user.
I agree that by limiting the amount of abilities we can designate to a created player it prevents the user from better replicating one of their favorite players. For instance, Deion Sanders would be a Gold corner and only have three abilities due to this restriction. One of his abilities should be return specialist, another dealing with his speed, leaving only one more ability to represent the rest of his skills, cutting short the opportunity to create a true to life Deion in All Pro 2K8.

I do however disagree that we should be able to make every created player on a team have as many abilities as we want for this will only lead to people stacking their team with created players who have more abilities then the legends themselves. There should be some sort of balance, but it appears as if 2K went the lazy route and completely removed the possibility of creating an accurate portrayal of real life players.

Here's to hoping there is some sort of code that can be unlocked which allows one to designate more abilities per tier.

Have to agree with that. Certainly MUCH different from their first comments months ago regarding the game's supposed 'deep customization'. This has to be the least customizable game in years with the exception of Madden 06 perhaps.

Some of the current golds only have 3 abilites anyway so it really doesnt matter to me.

Yes, for replicating certain players or if one is just using their own imagination it suffices, but not when it comes to creating some great players... Joe Namath, Deion Sanders, Peyton Manning, Ray Lewis, Lawrence Taylor, Bo Jackson, etc.

Re: So we can create teams without using legends?

I think 2K was concerned about competitive balance, and if you could give EVERY created gold player FIVE abilities, every silver guy FOUR, every bronze THREE, then you would. Why use any of the actual legendary players?

Every team you faced online would be created players, with MAXED abilities.

There have been hints that players may gain an ability with use, but we'll have to see how that works. I doubt every created player would advance, but maybe one of your gold guys, one of the silver and one of the bronze? That shouldn't throw off the game balance much, if at all.

I'll be glad when enough of us get this game and can answer questions like these.

Valid point. I just wish the option was there to make a third of your team have more abilities then 3, 2 or 1.

That would be beautiful if players could gain an ability with use. I hope if this feature is in the game that it isn't solely tied to season mode and can come about in two player games as well.

The 8 user created teams are more for online play - so you can mix it up depending on who you're playing without fiddling with your roster every single time.

You cannot edit city, stadium or team names - you must pick from available names for each but it seems you will be able to get somewhat close to NFL like teams if you wanted. "Chicago Beast", "Boston Americans", "Pheonix Firebirds", "Miami Sharks" etc.

I don't think the 8 created players max was confirmed. It would make more sense that you can create 11 players since you get 11 legends. You cannot edit generic players that I am aware of - only created legends.

If that is the case you should be able to get some pretty cool leagues going that somewhat resemble NFL teams / players ... only with more balance.
What I really dont get is why they want allow us to edit equipment on any player we want. I really dont care about the names, but equip? Come on, What if I dont like the single bar facemask on my WR, QB or RB? They should atleast give up a chance to make our teams look the way we want them to.

Yeah, give the guy that plays 40 hours+ a week even more of an advantage.
