When you push up, you have to do it with force. The more force, the farther the kick.

Keep at it you will come around. I never thought I would get comfortable with kicking after being horrible at first.

I really like the challenge of kicking with the generics. I thought I was going to have to use one of my tiers to select a kicker, I was so bad.

Now if I can only make pressure kicks! I seem to revert back to how bad I was when I first got the game, when I need to make a big kick. I shanked a few that would have resulted in a win during my season games.

Re: Kick Stick

Right after you kick, the game gives you a message as to how good your timing and aim was. It does it real quick, so you have to look fast. Using these messages, you can get the timing on your kick down.

Off line you can use Practice mode to hone your skill, but it's different enough online to throw you off.

Re: Kick Stick

I saw one guy use Ray Guy as his kicker and punter. I don't know how he was able to replace him as the primary kicker but he did it against me online and was doing kickoffs with him and kicking fieldgoals. Some cheat he must have found to accomplish it I think. Ray Guy was making kicks almost going over the net when on field goals.

You can manually substitute him by formation. I don't really see a problem with it. It is no different than using a WR as a return guy.

As for tips for kicking, I usually start the up flick just a tad before he plants his non kick leg for the kick. For example a left footed kicker plants with his right leg and kicks with the left. So when he is just about to make his last plant of the right leg before kicking that is when I do the up flick of the stick.
This post helped me tremendously, although I was getting "perfect" timing, it appears I needed to do it earlier. Thanks.
