It only lets my friend, who is at my house right now, pick the same team that I created or else be on my team. How does he play as someone else besides the team I made??

He has to play as one of the teams you created.

or let him create a team real quick, but dont let him edit play book, 1 it takes too long and 2, now you have an advantage lol

This is the reason my friends didn't like the game, they didn't want to create and edit a team. They also wondered why they couldn't play as one of the default teams. I was just as stumped as they were.

It really doesn't take long. Just have them pick their players and keep pressing start. They don't have to edit colors or fill out the entire team, just pick a logo and finish. I can understand not wanting to do that, but it's a really quick process.

I usually do it when I want to use a certain person. Just put him on the team, auto select the rest, and finish.
