Goaline Dive ability

I had a game where Earl Cambell was racing for the corner of the endzone and dove right when two defenders hit him mid-air. Thus causing him to leap higher than i've ever seen him and spin in mid-air while crossing the endzone. Coolest thing i've witnessed in 100 online games so far.
The guy I was playing against messaged me and asked me to teach him how to do that leaping dive. I messaged him back and side that is the first time I've seen it myself and have no idea how I did it. My question is, can a running back do the goaline dive occasionally even if it's not one of his "legend abilities" If so how do I do it or is it just a random animation triggered by a certain situation?

This game keeps showing me new stuff I love it.

I believe it is context sensitive, so the game will do it automatically if the situation calls for it
