Who can quickly tell if the "D" is in man or zone?

Outside linebackers and cornerbacks are lined up a bit closer to the line of scrimmage in man coverage than they are in zone coverage. OLBs are also lined up a little further inside the tackle box whenever in man coverage, although it's a little more difficult to tell this whenever the offense is lined up in "Ace" and "Ace Flips" formations.

Not to rain on the parade, but knowing if a D is in man or zone is a moot point. If you origianlly line up in man and route players into zone coverage the defensive player doesnt move at all. There is no way at all to tell if someone has hot routed into a zone.

I often select a base man and hot route zones from there. There would be no way for you to know I did this. There is zero movement.

Interesting. Do you hot route one guy at a time? Is it possible to hot route an entire group?

very true... I hot route someone to man, double team or blitz all the time out of zone coverage. very hard to pick up.
