Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

I would re-evaluate the legends aspect of the game.

While it is true that there are some nice legends in the game, Im willing to bet my house that over 75% of the people that play this game have never even heard of the majority of them.

Im 30 and have been watching football since I was a youngster, and yet I still dont recognize many of these names other than seeing them on a NFL greats show or something.

Add in depth franchise..

Commentary that is different from 4 years ago...

New tackling animations that arent 4 years old...

Non ****** DBs..

Updated playbooks...

That would be a great start for me. I loved 2k5, but I dont want to be playing that exact same game 4 years later. Thats the way I felt with 2k8. Other than the stadiums...and with the removal of all the players and teams and franchise....i felt 2k8 brought nothing new to the table that we hadnt seen 3 years ago.

I agree. Been there done that..............hundreds of times over the course of several years. Again, no point paying $60 for something you paid $20 for several years ago......especially if the $20 version had all the frosting while the $60 version is like a bland piece of cornbread by comparison.

im seeing new tackles, new interactions, new nuances, new DB/WR interactions almost evertime i play. maybe you got a bad copy?

arm tackles, qb nuances, route runing, interactive sidelines, sidleline endone catches, nice non wrap tackles are just a few thing to keep an eye on if your looking for adavancements from 2k5

You should be able to move the players around to where you want, create the front and save it for your playbook.

Also give the individual line and linebacker shifts as default options. But I think what this does is add a great deal of variety to the game. With a front creator you can be sure to see a great deal of different looks. They should let you create 3 fronts per defense.
I am feeling that saving of defensive fronts. I am also hoping we can have an audible system for defensive fronts.

Ooh, good point!

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

Go back to NFL 2k3 for Linebacker Behavior. It was best there. They reacted quickly to runs and on all pro they were beasts. I'm playing it right now and Urlacher and Holdman are owning me. Can't get outside and they are plugging the middle too. Hard to run them over too. The OLB does play with outside leverage on outside run plays and the depth of their alignment is exactly where it needs to be around 4.5 to 5 yards. I think the proportions of the linebacker models are better in 2k3 too. I'm about to record something to show what I mean by adding to the blitz. Man the thing is, 2k had all of this stuff in their game, just needed to improve on it.

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

I would like the team to make special teams more meaningful. There are a handful of guys with the special teams demon ability, one of which is clearly a mistake on the team's part (Albert Lewis, not Deron Cherry, was the real special teams ace on those 90s Chiefs teams), but IMO, they don't have the impact on the return game that they should. I've used Tasker as a gunner on punts and as an outside guy on KR, and yes, he will deliver a blow if he gets to the ballcarrier, but he doesn't seem to me to be the kind of threat in the game that he was IRL.

Long-snapping might be worked into the game. The CPU gives you lots of crappy snaps, and while I think this is a good thing, it might also be a good thing to offer the user the option of choosing some LB or TE who is really good at this and have it show up in the kicking game.

Also, there are guys noted for blocking kicks, and that ability should show up in the game. Lewis was good at blocking them, I know, and so was Tasker, if memory serves.

And lastly, there are guys who excel at special teams and guys who don't, and because I've seen guys online throw a bunch of legends out there on ST for the simple fact that they are supposed to be "better" than everyone else, I think it would be neat if there was some way to work into the attribute system way to penalize legends who didn't really play ST and give a noticeable boost to those who did. I think you can see this in players who have the return specialist ability versus those who don't, but I wonder if the system might be further refined to discourage Earl Campbell from running back kicks or Lem Barney from blocking for a gold returner (most teams have one designated return guy, then someone who can lead him into the wedge, not two guys who are lithe and quick and equally capable of being a #1 returner).

Re: APF 2K9 Wishlist

Ok got it captured and got them up. 2k had soo many things that were great, why they got cut out of the game I have no idea. All they had to do was build on some of these things. What you will see here in this video is from 2k3. Let me just say, I do not want 2k3's pass rush pursuit. It was terrible. But what I do want are these animations. And I want them under the user control, so that the user times the snap and the user is responsible for how fast or slow his guys will get there.

In this first video we have a Safety blitz, and a Safety and LB Blitz to the right and left sides of the formation. Now for enhancing the current game I think the secondary blitzes would go a long way when combined with the Coverage Shells. Let's say you call a cover 3 Strong Shell and the Safety that is blitzing in these clips is in the middle of the field and the other safety has dropped down on the other side in the box. Now what would be really cool is as soon as you make the blitzing Safety move he charges the edge where he is supposed to blitz from the shell alignment.

In this second video we get a linebacker twist out of the Dime 3-2-6 or what teams Call their Odd Package. Again we get the FS and MLB blitz. Like I said before I do not want 2k3's blitz pursuit logic, it was terrible. As you see on the FS MLB Blitz the FS doesn't hit the edge he just runs back inside for no reason. We need him to hit that damn edge full speed. If a person is not going to use the protections before he snaps that football that is on him. Then finally we have a Double Indian Blitz out of the Bear.

In this final video we have a Blaze 0 Stunt called and notice in the first clip the movement by the linebackers. With the alignment they get in after they move this is a Double A Blitz. The OLB he stays on the outside hip of the DE but he will be shooting inside through the C gap on the snap. This is seven man rush that should bring the pressure quickly, just have the linebackers take off like other defenders. Also you see how the linebackers are aligned after they move, this is one of the fronts that I was hoping would be in the game. Only difference is take the OLB and line him up outside the DE on the strong side and leave the other two linebackers stacked right there in the A gaps. Move both DT's on the outside shoulders of the Guards. I'd love to wreak some havoc with this front. Easy to drop down into an eight man front, just bring the Safety on the weak side down.

Anyways, I would like to have blitz plays have pre snap movement like the videos shown here, but the defenders move under my command. It really plays into that cat and mouse game of football. If I show early then you should audible and slide your protection. If I time it just right, you have a problem If you are not going to be patient and let the defense show its hand then you should have to pay. And some guys pay even when the defense does show their hand. Like I said I would love to have this type of movement to the blitzes and combine that with the coverage shells and I think there is alot of movement going on to make people THINK before hiking that football.
