Freezing Issue: 2 player, vs, local

So me and my friend have yet to be able to play a game where the game doesn't freeze up before completeing it. We're playing on the same xbox, vs each other. I have no clue what the issue is. Single player games, where its just one of us playing, there aren't any issues. Has anyone run into freezing issues with more than one person playing on the same xbox? I've actually tried this out with two 360's, the old one without hdmi and old heatsink, and the new one with hdmi and the new heatsink. Both have the same issue so it is NOT my xbox... however i haven't ruled out it being a defective disk somehow. Any help, suggestions, experiences, whatever, would be welcome. Thanks.

To follow up, no noticeable scratches on the disc, 2 minor fingerprints were removed, don't think that was the cause though. maybe its defective but you can't tell? ...

I'm not sure how much this will help you, but I thought I'd chime in. I haven't had any problems playing two player on the same 360. I either, travel with it for about 3 hours and hook it up at my parents house and we play 2 player, or my parents will come to visit us. We haven't had any problems locking up with 2 player. Seems kind of strange though that this problem is consistent with multiple 360's. If you're using the same disc both times, I guess it sounds like it good be a defective disc, as you suggested.
