How do I assign a man to the QB?

I may have found this in a search but I'm short on time and away from home on a Treo.

How can I assign a specific defender to man mark a running QB?

If I remember correctly, it's left on the left stick as a defensive adjustment; i.e. if you want the middle linebacker to spy the QB, at the line hold left trigger (for linebacker audible), hit the button of the linebacker who you want to give the assignment to, then hit left on the left stick.

I may be wrong on which direction to hit for the final step, but I know that that's the way to do it. You can't assign a man to the QB via the defensive matchups screen.

Actually, you have to press and hold left bumper for linebackers, and hold right bumper to highlight defensive backs. For the PS3 it's L1 & R1 respectively.

Next, press appropriate face button to select which defender to do the spying. The quarterback is labeled 'A' button on the 360 and 'X' button on PS3.

This is correct...if you look at the player assignment after you do it, the player will look like their assignment is a short zone, but they will mirror the QB (QB Spy)

Can I do it with a safety as well, or does it have to be a LB?

Yeah, a safety can be assigned to spy the QB.

Also forgot a note: To select a nickelback or dimeback to spy highlight the LB core (hold L1).
