Agreed. Infact I have been playing video football games since Atari, and I am still waiting for the first one inwhich the whole playbook is useful. Even my favorite football games have had at least a handful of plays that are either money or doomed for failure.

I don't think I have ever gotten a reverse to work. Screens and draws often don't work...If they do, they are money. In most games it seems that plays towards the middle are too hard while anything outside is easy...or vice versa. Play-Action has been a problem in some games. In other games, lobbing a deep pass into triple coverage has a similiar success rate to throwing 3 yards to an open reciever.

It would be nice if they worked out these X's and O's issues first.

Full customization would be a dream come true but I felt that the single player in APF needed more work.... Playing through a season seemed a bit random and teams lacked personality. Let me explain...

In 2K5, because the teams were meant to mimic their real life counterparts, there was some team specific AI. With APF, all the teams seemed more or less the same. Granted different teams had different legends and different number of Gold, Silver, Bronze but it seemed that the plays were always the same.

I would like to see the new teams in APF with better coaching AI and team specific plays and some vehicle that identified the coaching style upfront to prepare (like in 2K5 franchise but built out). So you know if a team uses no huddle frequently or likes to throw in the occasional trick play...Give these teams some personality!...I love what the stadiums represent but I think there needs to be more work in terms of gameplay.

For franchise, I think you could really make a game around growing the APF League similar to how the NFL was built.. Start off with just a few teams..gain revenue (through tickets, advertising, broadcasting milestones) with wins...more wins, more audience, more franchises, etc... grow the league, unlock new stadiums, unlock new teams, new players,..the possibilities are endless now that there is no hope for the NFL License.

The multiple coaching styles are really fleshed out in CHoops. a similar systems for APF would be stellar.

and while Id be more than happy with a generic franchise mode, your 'League growing' idea smacks of brilliance.

The whole grow the league thing is nice. What I like to see for franchise are blank slates. No Records.. that way at the end of the season new records are formed. Then the next season you can try and break those records. So if the first season of the league ,Lance Joseph rushed for 1800 yrds and 20 Tds and he lead the league, then thats the record.
As far as team personality maybe use some of the online VIP'S from APF2K8 to use as coaches. It would be could to see all these profile sitting there waiting for jobs. Either that or have the abilities assigned to the coaches. So Coach Pat Carroll could be a DEF coach so everywhere he goes his DEF is always stout.
I would like to see more specials positions, like Scat backs, Brusiers, Slashers, Downhill runners, and so on.
CB's: shutdown, cover, hard hitters, and so on
QB's: Gunslingers, Cool hand lukes, scramblers, and so on.
That way during the combine thats how they would label the players and then each indivual personal would have strength and weakness.
Its cool that each player had strengths but it would be cool to add atleast one weakness. So you can have a receiver at is a Route God but doesnt have good hands in crowds. So if he is getting double teamed he wont catch a ball but if he's a little open he will catch it.

When it comes to team money, would like to each position and tier to have a cap. So that way instead of just picking 2 gold 3 silver and 6 bronze.
That way for the money of one Gold player i could get maybe a Silver and and 2 Bronze or maybe 4 bronze or a whole bunch of nobodys who could be somebody.

Thats my .02 anyway.
