Re: APF CONFIRMED.

I think his issue with the July info date means the game wont be coming out until Madden comes around, again. Which means that it will be competing with Madden yet again. Bad idea.

As much as I want to know what will be in APF2K9, I don't want them to tip their hand so another company can simply copy/emulate their ideas.
Or the sooner you have people developing unrealistic expectations. I'm sure it's well intentioned, but even w/dropping hints that information will come on a certain day will invite speculation, then disappointment, then complaints.

yeah but those complaints come from the hardcore players, the forum nerds like ourselves which represent like 20% of the people that will purchase the game.

As for me, I'd love APF2K9 but if it doesn't come out, I'll be happy with 2k8 as my football game.

that's all fine, except a league license like the NFL usually sees much larger sales. So while the player costs may be minuscule in comparison, so were the sales, which most didn't occur at the full 59.99 price either.

I'll be disappointed even further in the direction of this game if they keep the legend formula pretty much the same. What's the incentive to buy? They may have a year at the end of the last game's title, but unlike madden or any other real league, you don't have to upgrade to the newest year. I liked the game for a bit, but don't see the need to buy 2k9 unless it's something different than 2k8. They have to blow this game out of the water to top 250k sales this year.

Most of the major concerns I have seen thus far on this board are going to be addressed. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. The company read the reviews. If it was knocked in a review, then odds are it's going to be addressed. This time around they have a full year development cycle.

I'm an RPG gamer, who converted to a hard core RTS gamer (Axis & Allies RTS, BfME2, and Company of Heroes), who recently converted to a pretty hard core sports gamer. Well, kind of... it's the strategy elements that really drive me towards APF2K8. The ability to build various teams with multiple strengths / weaknesses and then try to match them up against another custom built team is extremely fun and challenging.

Now, what I want to see is deeper strategic elements with team builds and game play strategy. I would like to see player skill trees, player chemistry bonuses, and coaching choices all play into 'how' a team can play. Many players complained about the numbers going away, but I think the Player Abilities are the best thing to happen to Football in the last 15 years. I hope they enhance the Abilities (players strengths), give us some way to understand the 'weaknesses', and evolve the strategic elements of the game. I'm still pretty much in the dark as to what's been done on the strategic front.

That's a very broad brush you're painting with; I'd be careful with saying things so early in the process. You obviously know more about the game than most of us do - if one comes out that is (I'm not going to let myself get too high/low), but people's major concerns being addressed can be taken in any number of ways. And people will take it mean their personal problem has been addressed to their satisfaction. And if it isn't, then begins the negativity. And with this being an unlicensed game 2K's already dealing with things essentially handicapped. If this is being done w/2K's ok then fine, but... personally given what happened last year in these forums I'd just as soon see info released until things are set in stone

Yeah I hear you on that one.

I do hope they put it out though. I thought that 2k8 was the best football I ever played on a console. I for one critized the legend angle but now I'm all in. It's not like you think of these guys as running around the field with canes. At least I don't. If you have an open mind you should get into the game with no problem. I say that because I came in with a closed mind about the Legends but I'm all sold now. They could do legends next year and I'd be sold. Just add some more modes and presentation and clean up some of the AI just a tad and I'm good.

PS: I do have a question for them regarding 2K8. One flaw in the game is the upfield blocking. Why do your guys haul azzz up the field leaving you defenseless when your trying to get yards? They run and run and run and don't block a soul, sometimes.
