I use to have an issue with auto strafe. I don't know if the devs did any fixing.
You can use a USB to PS2 adapter and use a PS2 controller without the motion sensing.

This takes care of the issue. The adapter is $20.00 and you probably have an old PS2 controller laying around.

I hope this helps, and it really does eliminate the controlled player from jumping into an awkward animation, especially as the ball is snapped.

That's an interesting fix; it might be worth the money. Jumping into that pain in the a** animation is a killer on defense. It makes it impossible to hit a hole running full steam when you read the play, and it negates the speed of a player like DT, who should be able to fly right off the ball. Excellent advice, so thanks for that!

I've found that pressing L2 before the ball is snapped takes care of the issue for me.
