Revisit of APF

Sup guys

I stopped playing APF months ago. Because of other titles like COD4, Mass Effect, GTA-IV, ect. I recently popped back in NCAA08 and only made it through a half before I was BORED to death of playing it. I then put in APF, which has always been my all-time fav and have played tons and tons of games online. Combined with leagues and what not. Well after the revisit, I think I have found what turns APF into only so so for me now. Lack of control of the ball carrier! I understand some of the backs feeling like they are not going to break any ankles or make any moves other than run someone over but when a back like sanders feels slow and clunky it throws it off for me. It is not only him but WRs rarely can come out of a catch and make a sudden cut left then back right without a huge chunk of speed being lost. The fluidness is the ONLY problem with APF. I could carless about the franchise mode. As long as the on the field is great and APF is 90% great.

Other 10% missing
Blitz speed
Correct angles
Fluid running
Negative abilities (Bad hands, Fumble prone, ect)
Slightly better lighting engine

Just thought I would like to see what everyone else thought

Later guys

Yeah, I agree with you. I like Madden, NCAA, and APF. APF being the better overall experience. But, I am with you with the "heavy" feeling of the ball carriers is a bit overdone in my opinion. If APF were more responsive then it would be a better game. Also, something that gets on my nerves is the terrible coverage by DB's. Seems like they have no skills whatsoever.

Re: Revisit of APF

Game plays amazing, however I'm bored with it now. I played the crap out of it online for a couple months but now that nobody is on I get really bored playing offline.

I agree their needs to be some more run after catch by receivers and it could be made a little easier to cut with running backs but I don't mind it.

Thinking about getting 2k5 so I can get my franchise football mix.

Re: Revisit of APF

You guys are missing the point I believe with the control scheme. I think they want to cut down on the arcade type running. I've seen some guys online who clearly , and I mean , CLEARLY have no problem running and making their backs perform magic.

BTW was playing a league game and saw some beautiful running animations with my created Brandon Jacobs bronze back. Running a sweep and he tilted to the side to get by a block defender at the same time another defender reached out to grab him by the ball arm from behind, he was yanked back a little but caught his balance and kept going and glanced off another defender for a TD. I never seen anything look so good.

2K NEEDS to give us a patch. I think they blew it by not having a system where we can replay every play after the game online like with NBA 2K8

Yeah, I agree with that. I've always found the running game in 2K5 and APF to be much more true-to-life than anything EA churns out. You really have to read your blocks and hit the holes when they open up. When you break a big run in 2K5 or APF, you feel a sense of accomplishment b/c you let your linemen do their job and found the opening to break off the run.

In Madden, it never felt realistic to me. You'd either rip off an 80-yard run, or get stuffed at the line. Linemen never really executed their blocks properly on sweeps or tosses, so the only way to find success with those runs was to hope you had a fast RB and jam down the speed burst to run past the D.
