Performance EQ: The battle rages on

I don't know how many of you were around the 2K boards when NFL 2K5 was in it's prime. There was a very serious debate about whether to play with Performance EQ on or off. It was as heated as any debate about religion or politics. This time around they left that option out for ranked games BUT it's still there for custom games. I've played a few games and WOW was it refreshing. Forcing passes was a real roll of the dice. Scrubs were still scrubs but now they looked like they actually played a game of football in their lives. Stars were still stars but they weren't going crazy, performing feats of unrealistic proportions.

How say you on EQ?

Re: Performance EQ: The battle rages on

I've played with EQ off for this game. Felt that the legends should play better than the generics, and with EQ on, it kind of evened the playing field.

But, I'm always willing to listen to arguments for turning EQ on, as I'm just looking for ways to keep this game fresh.

I always keep, or kept, it off.

Seems like it ALWAYS makes games close, which to me just isn't realistic... Especially when it purposely makes your team play bad for no reason other than to keep it close.

One thing I think we need to clarify is that I'm talking about EQ on against another human. I never seen the cpu try to keep the game close when playing against someone.

Re: Performance EQ: The battle rages on

Against one particular friend online, we would always play with EQ turned on. That was a decision on my part more or less to shut his whining up on how my team was higher rated than his and that's why I always beat him....blah, blah, BLAH !!!! I'd turn it on so the playing field as far as player ratings and abilities were somewhat evened out or mellowed out like you mentioned.

He just couldn't face the facts that his losses were due to his high level of suckitude!!!! He put together some really bazaar teams and OMG, his uniform colors were always very bright (almost floursecent-like) and incredibly hard to look at!!!! One team in particular had real bright lime green jerseys, bright blue pants and red shoes....PUKE!!!!! Every time I'd face that team, I'd ask him when the gay rights parade was starting

Re: Performance EQ: The battle rages on

Some of you guys feel that all the players are even but that isn't the case. From what I've seen it just makes the players play more realistic. The great ones are still great just not god as your quarterback and jesus as your wide receiver.
