I'm going back to 2k5

I'm sick of the non-existent defense in this game. The corners and safetys will watch passes float by their head, DBs and LBs will let dead duck passes float between their hands, DBs don't fight for the balls, and the pass rush with TWO legends on the line is non-existent. What happened to the corners who didn't just run the WRs route in reverse to cover? What happened to the LBs that wouldn't take an hour to read a I Pro Iso? What happened to safeties that swat at the ball? What happened to a blitz that didn't get picked up 99% of the time?

And most of all, what happened to covering in and outs? I've been had too many times online with some of these bull**** issues.

Re: I'm going back to 2k5

This really was a rant because I lost 2 online games I really was in position to win but some of these BS situations came up. I was a little heated earlier, but the message is the same no matter what mood I'm in. I just think this game could have been so much better. Hell, imagine NFL 2k8 on the next gen. It would be football Heaven by now!!

Re: I'm going back to 2k5

Solution:

stop playing on all pro difficulty; step up to legend.

It won't fix all the game's problems, but it will at least help with coverage and pass rushing.

Legend is the way to go and 2k5 has db animation issues.

What type of defense are you playing and players you are using? I never use more than 2 bronze db and have success against some really good offensive players.

I have a gold CB and a bronze CB. I used to have Ronnie Lott, but now I have Nolan Cromwell. I usually play alot of man if I want the match-ups, but if the offense doesn't look dominating, I'll stay in alot of Cover 4/Cover 3. As I said earlier I tried to use silver DE and bronze DT, but I didn't get a single sack, or even a tackle from either all game. It sucks because a game earlier, a guy had 3 sacks on me with just Dexter Manley on the line. I may play some tonight, but I plan on moving on to 2k5 again sometime soon.

Re: I'm going back to 2k5

I've always been tempted to get into APF, but from what I've read in the limited customizing coupled with playing with ex-NFL'ers, it just doesn't connect with me. I'd almost rather play with no names at all than names that aren't part of the game any longer. Looking at some of shadow's vids amongst others has confirmed in me that the step up from 2K5 game play wise is really not much of a step-up at all.

IMO 2k8 took a serious step back. The completely zapped user control by making the animations last a few frames too long. You'll play as a LB and try and get into position, nudge the stick to the wrong way and go into a drawn out animation where they guys cross's his feet 3 times and slows down. You'll try and cut back as a RB and it takes nearly 5 steps.

These "extra steps" make it almost impossible to play as a DB, if you try and turn around to fast your guy goes into some weird 4-step sequence and gets burned.

QBs are the worst. Back-pedal to fast and try and throw and you get a horrific off-the-back-foot animation. Move a bit when throwing and you get a very awkward animation.

I understand they wanted real "momentum" in this game, but they are closer to a JV football team in athleticism then professional football players. What made this "legends" so great is their agility and ability to recover, but that is completely unreflected in this game.

Eventually, it just stopped being fun trying to play not to mess up instead of just playing. Now I'm back to 2k5.
