Shannon Sharpe and the TE frustration.

I played a dude last night and got absolutely destroyed by Shannon Sharpe. It was like no matter what I did he still caught the ball. I think at the end of the game he had 9 catches and 185 yards. Whenever my boys did manage to cover him, one of his recievers was usually wide open. I'm a decent pass defender, but when my opponent has a good TE I end up getting burned left and right.

Does anyone have any strategies for improving my pass defense?

I usually man a LB on a TE & zone my ILB deep & shade my safeties out & also play FS works for me.T.Dog works okay also.

1. double with a legend safety
2. double with a legend safety

and if none of those work,
3. Avoid people with legend TEs.

This is a good strategy. If you shift your LBs to the weak side and man-up the sam backer, he'll be in position to take away the quick slant. If you hot route your MLB to the deep zone, he'll get back to cover the post, and if you zone your SS to a deep 3rd, he'll be there to cover the corner.

The only problem is if the guy runs a crossing route and has time for his guy to separate. That's why one of the best defenses I think is a good pass rush--limited time to throw equals less problems with these guys getting downfield.

And whatever advice grunt gives, take it--he just walloped me in a league game, playing great d.

Shannan Sharpe used right is just as deadly as O.J. Simpson, Jerry Rice, and Barry Sanders IMO, maybe even deadlier.

never play man coverage agaist a gold te unless u have derrick thomas, with his speed burner he can cover pretty good. I either double with two lbs or play zones. Gold te's can be deadly, i have a team where i have Mackey and Loften and where one is doubled the the other will be open, its like pick ur poison,lol.
